The New York Post reports that New York Rangers winger Jaromir Jagr has received a three-year, $35 million contract offer to play with Omsk of the Russian Super League next season.
A source with connections in the Czech Republic told The Post that Jagr received the formal offer this week from Omsk general manager Anatoly Bardin after months of conversations.
Jagr, who will become an unrestricted free agent on Tuesday, has repeatedly said that his first choice is to re-sign with the Rangers.
"I talked with (Jagr's agent Pat) Brisson last week in Ottawa before the draft and I told him we wanted to do a deal," Rangers general manager Glen Sather told the Post. "But there's been no communication back on their end.
"He has all the strings. There's nothing more that I can do at this point. If he wants to become a free agent and see what else is out there for him whether it's in the NHL or in Europe, that's his privilege.
"I know that he's told me before that he doesn't want to play in Europe, but at this point, I honestly don't know what he's thinking. "
Jagr scored just 25 goals and 71 points for the New York Rangers this year, the lowest totals of his NHL career.
