Tracy Mcgrady can kill anyones career.

Too bad all Jeff will be remembered for is hanging on to a knick by the legs as he's trying to break up a fight in the late 90's.

He can afford to. Maybe he'l trade in his 91 Honda. His '88 Honda Civic was wrecked in the 1999 NBA playoffs when a Jet prop wash tipped it over at the airport.

He actually leases a Toyota Sequoia from the company I work for.

Maybe they will trade McGrady or Yao Ming for several players and make them at least worth watching.

What year? Only made mention of it because it's a true story, only the car years I couldn't remember.
He's a notorious tightwad. Here's a guy worth millions driving an 8-10 year old car. But like BDB, ya had ta love the guy.

not sure the year, I believe it is leased by the team for him, I will look it up tomorrow on the company computer and report back. I would have thought he would want a luxury vehicle, but he did not.

Rudy Tomjanovich leased a Tahoe from us for years.

Not sure what you guys want Mcgrady to do. You throw a pass inside and the stiff of a center loses it half the time. At least he didn't fold up like Dirk. The guy plays both ends of the floor and is sorrounded by another stiff of a poward forward in Juwand Howard.

I never liked him. Especially when he was at New York coaching that bunch of thugs. Actually did the impossible and made me like Reggie Miller when he played them. Puked this last series against Utah. Now it seems he's backing off quitting. He very well might get canned by his boss regardless of what he wants.

I could car less either way, I just want to have a fun team to watch every night they play. I live near Houston and only get their games and the Mavericks are blacked out. they really need a point guard and a power forward, bad.

I would trade McGrady and run the offense through Yao Ming every time down court down low.

Now that he did get canned, he has the window to get the wrestling career off the ground.

Rockets fire Van Gundy as coach

By CHRIS DUNCAN, AP Sports Writer
May 18, 2007

HOUSTON (AP) -- Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy was fired Friday, less than two weeks after Houston made yet another first-round playoff exit.

The Rockets went 52-30 this season but lost to Utah in seven games, raising the possibility Van Gundy was going to resign or be dismissed. This was the Rockets' third first-round loss in four seasons under Van Gundy.

Van Gundy had one nonguaranteed year left on his contract, meaning the team held the option to retain him. The team reportedly has contacted Rick Adelman, the former coach of Portland, Golden State and Sacramento.

General manager Daryl Morey scheduled an afternoon news conference. The firing comes days after Morey took over for the retiring Carroll Dawson following the Rockets' playoff elimination.

"I was hopeful all the way up to last night they would change their mind," Van Gundy told Houston television station KRIV.

The Rockets said in a statement they talked with Van Gundy during a "prolonged negotiating period," and he was offered a position with the team as a senior consultant.

"He asked for, and was granted, additional time to evaluate his situation with the agreement that we would begin looking into other candidates," Morey said. "During that process it became clear that Jeff did not want to continue in any capacity with the team other than as head coach."

Van Gundy led the Rockets to a 182-146 record in four seasons. But Houston went 7-12 in three postseason appearances and more was expected from teams anchored by All-Stars Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming.

The Rockets lost Game 7 at home to Utah. The Jazz then took advantage of Golden State's first-round upset of Dallas and advanced to the Western Conference finals by beating the Warriors in five games.

"You have to win that seventh game at home, certainly," Van Gundy told the Houston Chronicle. "If you win, you have a chance to continue on."

McGrady dropped to 0-6 in playoff series with the loss to the Jazz.

"I feel bad that I wasn't able to help McGrady and Yao and the rest of the guys get over the hump ... and also that I won't be with them as they go on because I know they have a lot of success ahead of them," Van Gundy added.

Van Gundy now may be headed back to one of his old jobs. He was scheduled to work as a guest analyst for ESPN on Friday night's playoff game between Phoenix and San Antonio.

Van Gundy was working in television when the Rockets hired him before the 2003-04 season. Before that, Van Gundy coached the New York Knicks for seven seasons, leading them to the NBA finals in 1999.

He joined the Rockets as the 10th coach in franchise history in 2003. Van Gundy's career coaching record is 430-318, but only 44-44 in the postseason.
