Jeremy Roenick question

Long story but......


Can anyone tell me the story behind Roenick's number? I know he was in the 27 in Chicago...and in the 97 for Phoenix and Philadelphia. Did he make the change to 97 when he arrived in Phoenix??? Or was it in the latter years of Chicago? Also--does anybody know the reason for the switch??

I don't know why he picked 97 but Teppo Numminen already had 27 when JR got to Phoenix for the 96/97 season

Excellent....thanks for the reply, Mugs. Do you know if his 1st year in Phoenix was the first time he pulled out the 97? In other words, did he stay in the 27 through his entire time in Chicago?
