Want to kick something around with you folks. This young lady POW rescue was a work of art. I agree. Question Are?
Has it been blown up for more attention because of the Rescue?
Has it been blown up because it is a female? Is the whole thing just for publicity? Maybe to help support or keep public opioion high? I only ask for I have seen many POW's never get all this attention.
Even from 91 war not much fire works by the government. More attention came from there local towns.
Hell were flying three members of here family over to Germany to visit. Once again It's fine with me. But are we going to start doing that for everyone? Had we did that in Nam or WW11. We had to dam near send small cites to visit. So whats Up?

media must have something positive to tell, what else you/we
got: every day several "friendly fire" casulties, no WofMD
no osama or saddam, hundreds civilian casulties etc.

if some news are given too much attention it eats value of
the other (positive or negative ) news.

good site to get some maybe less intended news:

www.reuters.com and their raw video.

i hope this war thing is over as soon as possible.

"the bunker"
i keep hearing

i keep hearing

how she went down fighting...emptying her rifle.....doesn`t that sound a little shaky to anybody else?....i think that if this girl came out firing and emptied her rifle, she`d more than likely be dead right now....pretty much everybody else in that unit died...this sounds like a media"make the female soldier look heroic" spin on this story.....i may be wrong....if i was an iraqi soldier and an american emptied his weapon killing some of my gumbah`s ,i think i`d cap her ass but good....she was obviously beaten....but she wasn`t shot...i`m very leary about that story....

sure, she's being hyped pretty well in the media, but remember, there is no more ultimate mission in the military than a pow rescue behind enemy lines. when's the last time you remember that one coming true in real life in modern times? been scratching my head and can't think of one right now, and i'm decent with military history.

I believe that there are a few reasons for the publicity. Some have already been mentioned but I think another one is that the military doesn't leave one of it's own behind. That is why these soldiers got down on their hands & knees & began digging out by hand the soldiers who were buried near that hospital.
I don't think a pow rescue hasn't been done since ww2.
