Jeter left in the eighth inning with a strained hip. He's questionable to play Sunday in the series finale against the Giants.

Phillies placed RHP Jon Lieber on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 21, with a ruptured tendon in his right foot.
Lieber won't be back before September if he returns at all.



The Phillies could call up J.A. Happ or even Carlos Carrasco to start in his place next week. They still have no plans to put Brett Myers back into the rotation, so they need to trade for a starting pitcher.

Dye DL-bound (believe it), so why bring up Sweeney?

Jermaine Dye is going on the DL. He fully expected it today, will expect it tomorrow and knows that a few days off won?t help his strained quad. If not Sunday, then soon, he?ll be gone.

The Sox called Podsednik believing Dye was going on the DL, and the only reason they didn't do it today is because Erstad needed to go and they didn't have anyone else ready.

So, why will the Sox bring up Sweeney?
