A Cleveland-area father and son who are Jets fans attended Week 10's Browns/Jets game, and the end result for them wasn't as fun as for their favorite team -- they were accosted by an angry Browns fan who tackled the eight-year-old.

?As he was walking, holding my son?s hand, a guy from behind tackled him. A drunken Browns fan tackled him and pulled him out of his dad?s hand. He was on the ground crying,? the mother/wife, who reported the incident to WEWS News in Cleveland, said.

She also told the news station that outside the stadium, Browns fans called them "a bad word" and were "throwing food at them."

The Browns are looking into the incident and VP of media relations Neal Gulkis called the incident "unfortunate and disappointing."

And the Jets are helping too -- they reached out the family and offered to fly them to New York and let them watch a Jets game in one of the team's suites, according to Matt Higgins, executive VP of business operations for the Jets.

According to NewsNet5.com, however, the family declined their offer, saying they are "done with the story" and just prefer that the Browns work to make the parking lot safer.

This is a classic case of "a few bad apples" (or maybe "brown apples"?), but that's still no excuse for a fan -- a grown adult, mind you -- tackling a child in a parking lot because his team lost a game of sport.

Sure, Clevelanders have a lot to be depressed about when it comes to sports, but if the fans are this bitter and angry, maybe they don't deserve a championship any time soon anyway.

I read reports like this and have to wonder what in the hell happened to the days we could all go to a sporting event to cheer for our team and not have to fear for our own safety.

there are some fvcked up people in the world..this is just the case where grown men should have slapped this offender repeatedly until he cried like a newborn..The offender then should have been made to attend the next game with a t-shirt that read.."I am a worthless piece of dog do-do who has shamed my mom and dad."

I know how this feels. Years ago went to a Packer game when they were playing the Seahawks at Old County Stadium. Seahawks won and as I was leaving ( 12 years old), I had beer, popcorn and anything else you can think of thrown my way.... Yes I am a Seahawks fan

I become less and less surprised at what can happen when uneducated fvcks are allowed to intermingle in todays society..

The real sad part about it is the uneducated and self-serving pieces of shyt are begining to out-number those who have actually have manners and education.

I can't imagine what it is like to have to work with these absolute IDIOTS.

Mom says 8-year-old son attacked after Browns game by rowdy fan

Child was wearing New York Jets Jersey

CLEVELAND - When one Cleveland-area mom found out her son wanted to go to the Browns-Jets game Sunday, she was a little nervous. Especially, since her husband, who was born in New York, and their 8-year-old son are Jets fans.
?Kids are off limits. Clevelanders are such great people. I knew that they would never hurt an 8-year-old kid, never,? Danielle said. Danielle, who didn?t want us using her last name, said things inside the game were great for her husband and son, but outside it got rowdy.
?Calling him a bad word, to my husband and to my son, throwing food at them,? Danielle said. She said the worst of it was in the Muni Lot, as they were walking to the car to leave.
?As he was walking, holding my son?s hand, a guy from behind tackled him. A drunken Browns fan tackled him and pulled him out of his dad?s hand. He was on the ground crying,? Danielle said.
She said the little boy?s ankle was scraped and bruised. The dad didn?t call police, opting to leave instead.
?He just wanted to get him out of there, out of that environment,? Danielle said.
Browns vice president of media relations Neal Gulkis called the incident unfortunate and disappointing, and said team officials are looking into the situation.
"One thing Browns President Mike Holmgren said when he got here was home field advantage and a fan friendly environment is very important," Gulkis said.
Gulkis said fans are reminded during games they can text security inside the stadium for immediate help with disorderly fans. That text number is posted on the scoreboard during the game.
Danielle decided since she couldn?t confront the angry fans herself, she would write a letter to the editor of the Plain Dealer.
?I just wanted that person to read it and know that he really ruined a good game, a fun game. It was a great game and ruined it for a little boy. It doesn?t matter if he was a Browns fan or a Jets fan, he was a little boy,? Danielle said.
Though the boy?s injuries were minor, the incident left a lasting impression.
?My husband asked him, ?Did you have a good time?? He said ?Yes.? He said ?Would you want to go back sometime?? And he said ?No, I don?t like Browns Stadium.? Who could blame him?? Danielle said.
The Muni Lot is operated by the City of Cleveland. Cleveland parks and recreation director Michael Cox told NewsChannel5 rowdy fan behavior, like this incident, is one of the reasons the lot no longer opens at 4 a.m. on game days. The city has been adding extra security to the lot because of some rowdy fans
