New York Yankee Derek Jeter, was sidelined Friday, when an irrate fan beaned him with a D cell battery, after the Yankees 9-5 loss ended their season. The fan, 11 year old Staci Brux of Brooklyn, said, "I like the guy and all, but someone had to pay, and it was his melon what got in the way of the battery." The miffed middle schooler went on to add, "I would have rather hit that fat bastard Wells. That tub of shit gave up eight runs!"
When asked about the incident, Yankee owner George Steinbrenner replied, "It should have been a car battery! I do not pay these guys the kind of money that I do, to have some second rate team.....That's Bud Selig's job."
As for Jeter, he had the following comments: "This kind of thing belongs in European soccer, not Major League baseball." The bruised infielder added, "Who's that little kid think she is anyway? I don't care if her dad flew her out here to see the game, or not.......That's not right." Jeter, who hit .500 in the post season, was asked if he would harbor any ill will. "Have you seen this egg on my head?"
The incident is currently being investigated by authorities.
