He was hiding in a swamp or some sand at one point, breathing through a straw like Rambo. Didn't he shoot his neighbor in the head because his dog kept pooping on his lawn? Guy was banging 17 year old girls in Belize and making drugs in his own labratory. It appears he has escaped to Guatemala at this point.
I think he shot his neighbor in the head because his neighbor kept complaining about the dogs being very loud, which McAfee acknowledged were very loud. the dogs were found poisoned or something shortly before the neighbor was murdered.

We stayed on ambergris caye- I figured if he had a home in belize it would be on the island as opposed to mainland belize

Crazy shit - we would've been there about 8 yrs ago. Lots of beautiful homes and lots of development taking place. Parts of the island were still total shitholes. I am sure it is much different now- still can't believe they couldn't find him on the island.
My first visit was in 2005; been back 3 times since then. the Cayes are a lot nicer now than when you were there, but there are still some areas that are total shitholes. Belize City has not improved at all--I'd even venture to say the city has gotten worse...:scared
Still thinking very seriously about buying some land in the San Ignacio area for a retirement home....:toast:

Certainly a beautiful place (sans garbage dump in the middle of town- I can't believe they haven't cleaned that up) - might have to make a return trip someday. :toast:
