John is a professional assassin who has been out of circulation for 4-5 years; married, trying for a sense of normalcy.
His wife suddenly dies and he is alone with a newly acquired puppy.
Next day, while out getting gas in his cool 1969 Boss 429, a Russian mobsters son sees the car, admires it and tries to buy the car..not for sale.
At home, later that nite the young Russian with friends, decides to break in to John's home and steal the car. In the process, they kill John's dog and rough up a half asleep, in mourning, John Wick.
John Wick buries his dog, digs up his weapons cache and begins the process of tracking down the thief.
Mobster Boss tells his son WHO'S car he took, and WHO'S dog he's killed.
He sums up John Wick to his son buy saying...."You know about the Boogeyman?" son says, "John Wick is the boogeyman?"
Father replies, "No, John Wick is the man we send out to HANDLE the Boogeyman."
Predictable Mayhem from there....VERY HIGH body count...
I did like sub-plot of "The Continental" kind of a cultural high rise for people like John to take up temporary residency.
Good movie for gratuitous overkill and lots of blood splatter.
Gave it 2 stars out of 5.:0corn
