David Aldridge wrote on ESPN.COM today about Jordan?s Legacy. There he posed the following questions:

Do you think he's (Jordan) tarnished his legacy?

Was this comeback a failure?

In my continuing quest to turn this into a sports site. I am attempting to gauge Madjackers opinions on the comeback of the Best Player in Basketball.

Do you think he's (Jordan) tarnished his legacy?

YES

How can you say no? Memories are short and I know that we remember the 49ers Joe Montana more than the Chiefs Joe. The same can be said for ?Broadway?Joe and a dozen other former stars than changed teams late in their careers. The fact remains Jordan was a shadow of himself in Wash. Marketing and Ownership point of view; Jordan was a huge boost to the Wizards. I don?t know the attendance change but I?m sure it was significant. The question isn?t posed as an Owner. The question was posed as ?his legacy?. His legacy will always be ?Jordan over Elo? and the ?final shot over the Jazz?. I?m a selfish fan. I want my heroes to ride into the sunset (Shane style). I want the perfect John Elway ending. I know that doesn?t happen often and most stars find it hard to see themselves as finished (see Emmitt Smith) but I just wish their agents/wifes/somebody would explain that enough is enough.

Was this comeback a failure?

NO

Remember the Wiz pre-Jordan? They were poo. Seriously the entire team was poo. This team has a rich history with 3 previous nicknames (Packers, Zephyrs, Bullets) and a NBA title (?78). So this team was able to ?wake the echoes? or at least be somewhat competitive during the Jordan tenure. They now fill the arena with fans and are seen as a real team with a chance to make the playoffs (if the season ended today they would make the playoffs). The comeback has not been a failure for the Wiz. They have experienced resurgence and hopefully can capitalize on the success Jordan has brought to the table.

no, he has not tarnished his legacy. He's still a great player today, just not as great as he was in his prime.

In reply to the original question, Yes his legacy is tarnished. I agree with you Blazer, I wish the top players would go out that way, but too many times they hang on and give us memories we would rather not have of them. Remember Willie Mays stumbling around, almost lost while fielding his position and chasing pitches 2 feet outside the strike zone?

Pen-

The same "curse of aged athletes" seems not to apply to Jerry Rice and Mario. They are still getting the job done...somehow.

This is Madjacksports.com right? Hey, let me live my dream.:) :D

Your right, Rice and Lemieux seem to be the exception to the rule. Lemieux however can't carry the team all by himself like he used to, though his individual skills are as good as ever. Rice still does not look good in silver and black though, and didn't he just sign for another 6 years? I hope that is some kind of salary cap maneuver and not for real.

Best of luck with your dream, but if you put an end to the mojo threads your gonna answer to a few people.

Why Scott.

Three year olds are great. They don't have to get on thier knees and they love to stick things in thier mouths....

.........just a joke. calm down. I at least wait till they are 5 or 6......

Still joking.. I don't get head jobs from small children... just senior citizens with no teeth. They are much better that well defined gumline feels In-cred-a-ble.

No, no, I don't do 80 year olds. Just a joke....maybe?:D
