bobby hamilton and todd bodine wrecked in tuesday practice session. they will be using backup cars for the twin 125's and the daytona 500. since they are not using the car that they originally qualified in, very possible they may have to start from the back of the pack in the 500. i will have to research this rule, but bottom line, you are not going to want to go out on a wing and bet any money on these guys this weekend.

There is no rule, which I could find. Might have to wait until the Twin 125's are completed.

I believe the Daytona 500 rules are slightly different. In a regular race if you crash your car during Qualifying or Practice then you start at the back of the field (only if your owner has enough points and team provisionals to allow this). Both Hamilton and Bodine crashed during practice and I believe they can still qualify using their finish in the Twin 125's.

The rule goes like this...

These guys are using their backup cars the rest of the week. If they can qualify via the Twin 125"s they can qualify whereever they fall in place. If they do not qualify via their place in the Twin 125's, they must revert back to their original qualifying speeds, which were done in different ride, which means they will start in the back of the pack.
