just looking for 5 innings....

Bronson Arroyo makes his sixth start and 11th appearance. He has lost his past three decisions as a starter and didn't make it past the fourth inning in a May 9 start in St. Louis. Arroyo won his first start in Houston April 7 but has gone 1-4 since. His first big-league start was against the Braves June 13 and resulted in a no-decision. "He's built to go five, six, seven innings. Certainly, we have to be conscious of his pitch count. If he can give us five innings, our bullpen is in such great shape we can mix and match," Manager Lloyd McClendon said.

i took a long look at this game, being the top dog in the cards this sunday.

glavine has become a diff. pitcher, as he is getting tagged with a certain frequency, but the arroyo thing is full of questions, especially looking at his previous attempts, so even though some may want to take a crack at st louis here, i decided to pass and look elsewhere.

i.e.

looks like a great idea what you are doing, especially using the team subject, like "update on dodgers", "notes on atlanta", "arroyo's expected performance", and the likes, as in many cases the info you provide can fill that gap that will sway us one way or the other.

i believe in cases where the info is of extreme importance, you should bring it back up if no one else does, as messages tend to get lost with so many subjects. or maybe bring them all up at once a couple of times before game time.

perhaps you can have a special folder highlighting updates and special info you have gathered. or perhaps you can "freeze" or "glue" that block of info so it sticks together, even at the expense of no comments. this way we can look at all your notes at once and decide which ones to look at.

i think you are on the brink of a new angle on the forum. hope this helps a bit.

oh heck, i'm inspired now.

suppose you guys get either you, nolan, one of you who can be there every day (or most days) with selections, one, some, etc.

you get the thread started with either an analysis or a presentation of the game. then, those of us who want to say our piece will just tag on that thread. the presentation need not be an hour job, just the essentials, like arroyo vs. glavine, general stats, latest pitching trends, something which can be contained in a 10-15 line paragraph. then you guys can come back on the thread to follow up on other comments or just stay put. this would be a real nice way of gathering many news/comments in one thread. heck, all the sports services will be reading!!

example:

stlouis/atlanta preview/comments

or

nolan's (i.e., one of you guys) picks-stlouis/atlanta

we have the option of just watching, or joining in, agreeing, countering, offering other angles, etc.

you guys reading this, make your comments on the idea, for or against; it sounds great to me, but it is only one man's opinion. if you like the idea, please post your feelings. who knows what could come out of this?
