Just Some Thoughts

Just some notes for a slowwwwww Monday
i wrote down on the site in spotting teams
which could be possibly
overrated the rest of this season. Nothing is set in stone but thought it is interesting to take note.

Of the 56 playoff teams since 1995,
only eight (14%) had losing records in their first month (April).

The chances of rebounding to a winning season are only slightly better,
of the 96 teams that have finished above .500 since ?95,
only 20 (21%) had a losing first month.

No first month loser has won the World Series.

Atlanta is sitting at 12-14 with one game left this month in Mil
(could possibly be over priced right up to the all-star break).
Houston sitting at 11-13 with a game vs Montreal tomorrow could also
be hard pressed to achieve more than a .500 record. And if St Louis
does not beat Florida at home Tuesday they also could be on their way
to a .500 season or less. Each of these teams has some serious questions
either in scoring runs or pitching.

Keep the teams in perspective in what your laying or taking.
A .500 team or worse should not be laying -150 or better for
you to be getting the best of it or
when looking at a team like the Cubs (winning 35% of their games) ask the
question beforehand, is this match-up of starting pitchers
really worth 70 cents.

Also of note, in the American League who says runs don't count.

In the past six seasons, no American League team has advanced to the
playoffs while scoring fewer than 800 runs (4.94 runs per game avg).
Cleveland (4.56) better pick up the pace!, or are they another
team destined to be overpriced?
