this is purely somethin to just throw out there. just kind of a "doesnt it always seem to happen" kind of thing.
whenever a lot of higher ranked teams stumble in college hoops and a team becomes #1 by default, sometimes they dont play like a #1 team that first game, ya know what i mean?
has happened many times. sometimes, teams just have a cup of coffee at #1.
alabama was #1 for like 24 hrs last year and then proceeded to lose their next game.

Seems to me that the AP/USA Today polls aren't worth a whole lot this early in the season. There's just no way to gauge just how good these teams are.
In 'Bama's case, they weren't even that good as it turned out. A cupcake home schedule followed by late season swoon proved that out.

i think that bama had a good team last year with dudley and mo, but has anyone ever seen gottfried coach, he never gets in his players asses and the only player he ever put in the dog house is grizzard. i think he is a great recruiter but he is a terrible coach and player developer. if grizzard was coached by tubby he would have been a middle first round pick, it just pisses me off watching this guy be so passive on the side. i havent ever seen him coach a lick. hate to blame bama's debacles year after year on coaching, but the least he could do is throw his jacket off every now and then and coach.
