KENTUCKY/SOUTH CAROLINA Under 43.5 - South Carolina had become one of the better defensive clubs in the nation, allowing only 15.6 points per game. As a result, their 5 games so far this year have averaged a combined 38.4 points per game, a full touchdown less than this posted line. They have also done a better job than most teams of containing Lorenzen and the Kentucky offense in recent years, limiting the Wildcats to a TOTAL of 35 points in 3 meetings since the 2000 season! This is vs. a team that usually reaches that plateau in one game. Interestingly, the Kentucky offense has not been as high octane as recent years, averaging a normal 26.6 points this season, while their defense appears to be much improved, surrendering 22.8 points per tilt. Given that they may not get out of the 20s against this Gamecocks defense, I feel that these clubs will have a difficult time reaching even 40 points in this contest.
