Orioles prospect Kevin Gausman to make MLB debut Thursday

Prized Orioles pitching prospect Kevin Gausman will make his major-league debut Thursday against the Blue Jays, reports Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com.
Though Gausman isn't the top pitching prospect in the club's system -- that honor belongs to elite prospect Dylan Bundy -- he's still a big-time talent. The 22-year-old LSU product was taken fourth overall in the 2012 MLB Draft and was ranked as baseball's 26th-best prospect prior to this season by Baseball America.
Gausman has been plying his trade in Double-A this season. He's gone 2-4 with a 3.11 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 49 strikeouts in 46 1/3 innings. In his last five starts, however, Gausman has been dominant with a 1.74 ERA. In his most recent outing, he struck out 10 while allowing only one run in 6 1/3 innings.
With Miguel Gonzalez rejoining the starting rotation Tuesday night, the Orioles sent Jair Jurrjens back down to Triple-A Norfolk, so there was an opening for Thursday -- where Jurrjens' spot would have come up.
Related: You may recall Gausman has an affinity for Hostess powdered donuts and has been hooked up with a huge supply despite the company no longer being in existence.
