Thank God for that......I don't like the Cardinals, but I surely don't wish any of them ill-will. Jack Buck was too much to lose for this team and city already.

Darryl Kile found dead

CHICAGO -- Saturday's game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs was postponed indefinitely because of the uncertainty over the status of Cardinals pitcher Darryl Kile.
Kile reportedly collapsed in his hotel room in downtown Chicago and died Saturday.

Umpire crew chief Mark Hirschbeck met with team representatives Saturday, then contacted Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig before deciding to cancel the game. Andy MacPhail, Cubs general manager and team president, had met with St. Louis manager Tony La Russa. Cubs player representative Joe Girardi addressed the crowd at Wrigley Field, citing "a tragedy in the Cardinals family."

Kile, 33, was scheduled to make his 15th start Sunday in what would have been the series finale. He was 11-7 with a 4.18 ERA in 25 career starts against the Cubs, but had not faced them this season.

Kile won his last start against Anaheim on Tuesday, going 7 2/3 innings. He gave up one run on six hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

He had a 139-122 career record over 10-plus seasons in the big leagues. He began his career in the Houston organization, a 30th round pick in the June 1997 draft. His first year in the Major Leagues was 1991. He threw a no-hitter in 1993 with Houston, and was 15-8 that year.

He joined St. Louis in November 1999 after a seven-player trade with Colorado. The right-hander had seven winning seasons, including a 20-9 season in 2000, his first in St. Louis.

Kile and his wife, Flynn, have 5-year-old twins, son Kannon and daughter Sierra, and son, Ryker, who was born last August.

This is the second tragedy to hit the Cardinals this week. Legendary broadcaster Jack Buck died Tuesday night and his funeral was Friday.

The game is rescheduled for late August, though no date has been set

There was speculation that he collapsed.

God bless him, his family and everyone that knew him. You just never know when life will end. Please go hug the loved ones and take the time to let everyone who is important to you know how much they mean to you, because life is just too short...

RIP Darryl :(

Thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Also thoughts and prayers go out to the S.L. organization. It has been a tough week for that organization with the passing of Buck.

FYI all that is known now is that he was found dead in his bed in the hotel room. Larusa just said that on Fox. :(
