Cleveland will end up shitting the bed again this year. Outside of beating SA early, they've played a fairly weak schedule and all of their loses including tonight have been against some of the lamest teams in the league. A couple of those loses were the back end of back/back'rs, but they still were against brutal teams. Their wins are nothing to write home about as well. May be a very good go against move when their schedule gets a little meatier. Weak team.

you don't win in the nba without strong guard play and a superstar forward and or center.

look at the history of nba finals champs. no single players win championships and lebron won't do it alone.

heat won with wade and shaq, lakers won with kobe and shaq, and bulls won with pippen and jordan. spurs had duncan and great guard play in ginobli and parker. the celtics teams had bird and parrish, and the early lakers teams had kareem and johnson and a hall of fame power forward in worthy.

the only abberation to this model is the pistons of a few years back, but they had five quality players. no one person has single handedly won the title, and james won't win without any help. Ilgauskus, Jones, Gooden, Marshall, and snow don't equate with championship caliber help.

but then again the east is terrible, so they could go deep in the playoffs. actually all of the nba is terrible.

Closest I can think of is Iverson of 2001 who single handedly carried sixers to a 5 game series in the finals.

But I basically agree with you. Maybe Hakeem with his first title, he was the only big name player at the time on Houston. But everyone on his team stepped up big for them to win it.

I have watched Cleveland all year, twice from about 10 rows back. If someone can tell me what Offense they run, other than let Lebron go one on two or three and dish if he can't shoot it, let me know. It's either that, or when he's tired, run around in circles until someone can launch a three.

As great as he is, I think the World games are wearing on him. He doesn't move without the ball, especially compared to last year, and seems to settle on the jumper a lot more than he ever has.

That said, Cleveland doesn't have a lot of talent around him. Z gets pushed around by any team that has a legitimate center, James is off and on, and I'm not sure why Wesley is even on the team, let alone starting.

The should be a plodding team, playing good Defense, which will allow them to beat teams they should be beat, and hang with teams that are better than them. But, Lebron doesn't want to play on a team that does that, therefore their D comes and goes, and their intensity, or lack thereof, also comes and goes....usually going against the teams they should beat.

But, Dodger Blue is right, the East is not very good and the Cavs will trudge along and make the playoffs, and ride Lebron until his legs fall off.

I agree with much of the posts here.

I had originally intended my post to be directed at all those waiting and greatly expecting the Cleveland Cavaliers to ARISE and take over the NBA. It's the same old story each year. Just wanted to throw out an FYI that it looks like it will be another 300 days at least.

BTW

the Bulls suck as well. I'm already hearing how they will go on a monster run soon enough with the ideology and deadly stare of their fearless leader being the driving force.:nono: Nothing is worse that having a very capable defense and going out to dump a boat load of cash on what was suppose to be one of the best defensive players in the league, only to find your defense, interior defense, go to shit. No defense and no interior scoring. Jumper jumper jumper.

Ben Gordon will be available if you want him soon enough.
