The Hawks announced before the game that Crawford would miss three weeks with the leg injury he suffered Sunday against Florida. The Hawks went into the game against the Stars with two rookie goalies in Raanta and Kent Simpson.
"Crow's probably out a couple three weeks," Quenneville told reporters at the morning skate. "(Raanta) has handled it well. When games have been on the line he's been solid for us. You like his approach and his competitiveness. This will be a good test for him."
Simpson was recalled from Rockford on Monday and was Raanta's backup against the Stars.
"This is what you work all summer and your whole life for, I guess, is to get this opportunity and show you can play at this level," Simpson told reporters. "This is where you want to be."
The ball will be in Raanta's court at least until Crawford or Nikolai Khabibulin return from their injuries.
