Lateral move to Florida according to ESPN Mobile tweet: http://twitter.com/#!/ESPN_MobileCFB

slap in the face to Bama/Saban? I hear saban doesn't treat his assistants that well....

Sabear wears out admin (bosses) and coaches like no one else. No surprise here if Smart went to Florida.

I also read Muschamp wants Frank Wilson (LSU RB coach / head recruiter), but I think LSU realizes Frank's importance, so a pay raise should keep him home. I say home, because he is from New Orleans.....

nothing official yet in the Smart move, but there is absolutely 0 reason for him to leak that offer out if he isn't having serious thoughts on it. probably wants a raise if nothing else. He's old friends with Boom and I could definitely see it happening.

How much does Nick let his DCs do as far as game plans go and in game adjustments? I ask because I can see him having more control over that than some coaches would and if he does then that IMO is good reason to leave.

With all that talent on bamers team:shrug: why could they not play four quarters all year:shrug:
He might be one of the top ten coaches.......but not the best. You will find out more next year about your beloved coach.:mj07:

When you get a chance, please list the coaches that you feel are better than Sabear

He is not the best though.......FWIW

Who is then?

My take is that he is good for 5-6 years, but then wears out those around him. That was the case in BR for sure. When he left fans were devastated, but admin and others close to the program were not.......

I would list Sabear as #1 HC in the nation. I used to list Tressel #1, but the past 5 years or so years have revealed an inability to win the big game.

Tressel is number one........ Bob S. is Number two. Longevity is some what forgotten these days. Steve spurrier is number three.... The sad truth is that everyone only wants to measure the amount of national championships as the bench mark. Nick does well when everything is rosey, I want to see him facing adversity. That is a true measure of a coach. They all have Ego's ... and I think his arrogance should not go un Noticed. Leaving LSU when he did makes him the biggest prick ever in my book. I was not bitter because I am an auburn fan, just think his head is bigger than his abilities as a coach. FWIW.

You can only rule by intimidation/fear for a short while. Eventually you have to have the respect of fellow stakeholders. Who the best coach is to an individual would be based on that individuals definition of what a great coach is. If it is about championships send saban to vandy and see how many he wins. If it is about longevity then why have championships. IMO and as i have said in the past, when urban, spurrier, saban and the other flavor of the decade coaches have the players they dont screw it up. When they dont have the players they dont turn them into champions. Coaches, even ones as good as those mentioned cant make chicken salad out of chicken shit. Good Coaches with good players win and some even win championships when the stars align. Good coaches with inferior players pull a few out they shouldnt, but in the end they lose out to superiour talent. Arguing about the best coach is useless with the amount of variables that enter into the equation. Now finding coaches that fuck up with great players is a lot easier to spot. Just my opinion obviously:0074

IMO there are a list of coaches that are all about the same. Urban, Saban, Brown, Stoops, Tressel, Spurrier, and a few I haven't listed. They all get great recruiting classes and the only thing that seperates them from year to year depends on which program gets the "special" player out of the bunch. Tebow, Young, Bush, Newton, etc.
