FRANKLIN QUESTIONABLE

Sophomore running back Freddie Franklin, who missed last week's Utah State game with a high ankle sprain, is questionable.

"We're going to go out the next couple of days and see how he does,'' Tech coach Jack Bicknell said. "It doesn't sound great. The tough thing is we've got to make a decision because we leave Friday morning."

With Franklin out, the bulk of the running will be done by Mark Dillard and Patrick Jackson ?who along with Franklin ? form a three-pronged rushing attack.

To make up for Franklin's absence, Bicknell moved Weldon Brown from receiver back to running back, his original position.

KIBBLES & BITS

LB Brannon Jackson is also questionable with a right elbow injury. ... QB Matt Kubik has thrown for a touchdown in seven straight games. ... DE Moqut Ruffins has at least one tackle for loss in five of Tech's last five games.

CHALLENGES OF THE ROAD

For the second consecutive week the Bulldogs must load up and head west, this time to Moscow, Idaho, a week after traveling to Logan, Utah.

While Coach Jack Bicknell refuses to use the travel challenges as an excuse, there's no denying it has an impact.

"When you travel that far you have to bus to Shreveport, have a long flight and a bus ride to the hotel or stadium,'' senior defensive end Quarvay Winbush said. "It's a challenge to travel, but the guys did well this past week and we expect the guys to do well this week.''

Last week the Bulldogs played in a different setting, Utah State's Romney Stadium, with its snow-capped mountains as surrounding while battling with the high altitude.

This week the Bulldogs will play in the Kibbie Dome, kind of a civic center with the old-school artificial turf.

Most of Tech's players have never played in a domed stadium, and those that have played in the Louisiana Superdome, which is not really a point of reference.

"This will be my first opportunity to play in a dome,'' junior receiver Johnathan Holland said. "I've been to the Louisiana Superdome before they changed the surface. Receiving is receiving.''

Because of the long trip out West, the Bulldogs won't get to go through a Friday walk through. They didn't do a walk through at Romney last week either, and that turned out OK.
