Everyone knows that Texas Tech is capable of topping this total
on their own. To open their season on national television, a team
that normally pours it on will not hesitate to strut its stuff and
take advantage of the new rules w/the clock that lengthen the game
and re-install more plays to it.
SMU has attempted to play keep-away vs. Tech in the past, running
like a plodding mule team and then watching Texas Tech zip up and
down the field to score the ball and widen the deficit.
SMU head coach Phil Bennett knows that a new type of game-plan is
necessary in order to compete, and that his offense finally has
enough balance, experience and playmakers to trust.
