Pretty overwhelming!

Lost at the poker tables. Took some horrific beats, but really, I wasn't on my game and played poorly. I'll just blame it on me.

Lost at blackjack and craps.

Won my 2 sports bets I played (Smurphy texted me Jack liked UT and it was a square play, so I played Vandy :SIB ).

Lost overall.

Met and hung out with IX Bender. He gave me the in-depth Vegas for dummies lesson. I in turn probably game him some sort of sickness (sure hope not). Had fun hanging out and gambling; one of the most unique people I've ever met (in a good way).

Sick? I'm sicker now than I can ever remember. I started getting a sore throat on the first day, and it progressively got worse. I started coughing on Wednesday, and that got worse. I think I have a pulled intercostal muscle from coughing so much. Bender would flinch nearly everytime I coughed. :mj07: Puked several times yesterday which is always great when you're trying to fly. I have assorted colors of sputum which is also never good.

Stayed in the Monte Carlo, and it's pretty much deader than hell. I'm sure they had a chitload of cancellations after the fire. The wait staff in the brew pub were bitching about it. The front desk staff were very non-friendly. We arrived directly at 3pm local time, and our room wasn't ready :nono: The guy said it was guaranteed for 5pm check-in but he did have a 2 queen smoking room then. Pass. They also had my comps wrong and tried to screw us on that. The hotel/casino itself is nice and clean, but that's about all I can say that is good. There's a ton of construction next door too. I'm not sure what's going up there, but I guess some sort of new megacasino/hotel. They worked 24/7, and while not disruptive, I could hear them when trying to sleep.

Didn't get to meet smurphy as the farthest I got off the strip was when I went to the Hilton. Sorry, S, maybe next time.

Most importantly, my wife had a great time. :00hour

sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay at the monte carlo...i have always gotten top notch service there all of the times that i was there...the only explanation that i have is that they're all pissed off about the money they lost due to the fire....

glad your wife enjoyed her stay...

no prob, Al... Monte Carlo was way better than quite a few of the places I went to on the strip. I could have done much, much worse. As far as being nice, I would say it was just a notch below the high dollar places like Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn, etc.

I loved the Venetian. I think I'll try to stay TI if I'm ever able to go again. I really liked that place too.

no flu, but I do have the worst ear infection my nurse practitioner has ever seen in her career. She didn't understand why my eardrum didn't burst on the descent yesterday. I had so much pain, and I literally could only hear faintly; reminded me of having on shooting earmuffs and trying to hear somebody talking to me or maybe even being underwater and trying to hear.

Thanks again for all the tips and suggestions!

Sounds a lot like my week. I would have had no problem meeting up on the strip, but the way I felt combined with the ordeal of moving all my Vegas stuff to storage or out of town left me with no time or energy.

The important thing is that you donated money to the local economy. Thank you for your patronage.
