Wow it's been awhile, but I brought this back to life, the late game I will focus on tonight is LA @ SD

Back with some info, feel free top add your opinion, insight and info....

Let's start off with the pitching matchup, cy young would roll over in his grave if he had to watch this pitching matchup.

LA Dodgers-Eric Gagne
At the beginning of the year I make a list of pitchers to play against and play for, and it changes throughout the year every week. Gagne was on the play against list for every week except two out of the entire year.
This does not mean an automatic play aginst however, research still needs to be done. gagne in his last two has been horrid as he is 0-2 and is era is over 7! On the road this year he is 3-3 with an era just below 6, and the dodgers record in those starts has been 5-7. He is 2-5 in his last seven, to include 1-4 in his last five. Against the padres the dodgers are 2-3 in five starts and he has only gone over 6 innings once. That's ugly.....

Now on to uglier....

Padres--B. jones
He also has spent some serious time on my play against list as he is horrible at home at just 3-10 on the year.his last three get ugly as well , as he is 0-1 with an era over 9! in his last ten the padres are 2-8, getting worse in his last six at 1-5. Although against the dodgers he is 2-2 lifetime, the dodger lineup seems to tee off on him, which i will show shortly....

Hitting :

LA
The dodgers have averaged just 3.2 in the last ten and are just batting .204 in those ten games, however good news should be coming. The dodgers did hit well in the ninth last night as they scored in the top of the ninth which could be an indication they are going to hit again. They also should be very thrilled to see Jones as the players light him up. check these numbers....

Sheffield .280 with 2hr's
Karros .333 with 4 hr's
johnson .429 with 1 hr
Grudzielanek .410
grissom .314 2 hr's
and Green (if there is not a holiday) .538

Padres
The padres are a bit better at 5.0 runs per game in the last ten and a batting average of .276, but that may be a bit inflated with three games in which they scored 11,8, and 9 runs. The padres have limited ab's vs. gagne but the few good ones are Darr at .375, and Nevin at .455 (day-to-day)

Well that is the hitting aspect will be back with the X-factor and tonight's late night selection.

The pitching is just too ugly to take a side. the dodgers are usually the streakiest team I have ever seen so I would play them, but gagne makes my stomach turn. I also am aware of the vistor at 12-0 in the last 12, but I need more than that.

the total on the other hand has a few X-factors.

1) Already mentioned pitching, but the longball comes into play, as they both give it up on a regular basis. in the last three the total runs against is at 15, and the era in the same spot is 16.

2) Umpire: Reliford averages 10 a game which is over, and 2.5 home runs a game, he makes guys throw over which is bad news for these two slugs. When the total has been 9.5 or lower this year and he has been behind the plate the O/U is 16/8.

This should be over by the 5th inning.....
