My father passed away in 2000. Un-known to me he purchased some mineral rights on some land in say 1951.............How do I find out if these have any value???

I dont really know what the first step would be.
Probably contact an attorney......right. I am pretty sure there is a lot of drilling activity on the vicinity.
Someone told me that the oil and gas companies will not try to hard to contact you if they want to drill and you have the mineral rights. Some guy told me its up to me to look into it.

Any advice from someone in the know :)

Check with the recorder of deeds, at the courthouse in the county where the property is owned, it should be noted on the deed or some sort of addendum.

Good Luck,

I might be interested in purchasing them - I own alot of OGM rights in Florida - over how many acres and in what states are these minerals rights?

seymour......I will have to check the acreage.......they are located in Wyoming.........in the manderson/Hyattville area close to the Big Horn mtns............On a map it is basically in the northern/central area of the state...........

My dad was'nt very good at matters such as this......he was getting a check from some company for like $300 quarterly......He is the kind of guy who would be happy with the $300 without ever even checking their true value......kind of old fashioned I guess. He thought he was getting a deal just by someone willing to give him $300 every quarter.

And again he may have been right in the fact that they are were not worth much anyway..........

Can someone or company actually drill on land you have rights to without compensating you???????
