I'll take

I'll take

Ohio State in this one....

Although - I'll be rooting for a close Ohio State win... this would be the best thing for the Big 10 conference, as it would make it a very strong possibility of a Ohio State - Michigan rematch in the NC game.....

Have 2 teams in the same conference ever met in the NC game before? I'm guessing no....

I'm with you Mags. Can you see what that would do to the other B10 bowl games? Wisky to Rose, PSU to Orlando, etc.

Wisky can't get to Rose, no matter what...

The BCS has this stupid rule that states only 2 teams from a conference can go to a BCS game (which the Rose is)...

Which means that Wisky is locked into the Capital One game in Orlando at this point....

UNLESS they'd get in the NC game - and there is no real chance of that......

Im with ya here wox, normally I put a little bit of money on big games like this to enjoy them even more, but I won't need any incentive to be totally pumped for these too

Ohio State by 17. I will not be betting any money on this game as I am thinking most of the public will not. I'm going to enjoy a great game.

IMO the spread will not factor into this game. You either lay the points or take UM on the money line.

exactly. the points might look generous but dont see them coming into play. osu is either going to win by 14-17 or lose outright. osu isnt going to leave the backdoor open. theyll either be in a dogfight and in trouble from the start, or smith and the offense will score 30+ and make the number inconsequential.

Agreed on all counts.

I think Michigan will be able to move the ball on the ground, and that they'll be in the red zone early. If UM capitalizes on the early chances, then I think they'll win and win more comfortably than anyone may suspect possible. If not, I think this game may end up resembling the OSU-Texas game from earlier this year. Ohio State's defense has not been stellar against good competition this year, but they have been opportunistic and strong in the red zone. Henne will need to stay patient and Hart will need to be effective inside the 20 to win the game.

People forget that prior to the 8 minute mark of the 4th quarter last year, UM had bottled up Smith and OSU very well. I think they can do the same this year, but they will need to be very disciplined in the secondary and make the tackle in the backfield when the opportunity presents itself. Obviously that's easier said than done.

What about the over? Both strengths of each team is their offense, and I see both O's being able to score. I think UM presents a true run/pass threat to OSU's D, and they should be able to have some success. Vice versa, other than UM did face ND. Should be a great one, but wondered if anyone sees this going over.

Take Michigan on the ML, they win by 7, and parlay them with Cal for a nice ML parlay.

I honestly believe Michigan is the stronger team. I will take defense over offense every day of the week. Michigan will run the ball and their front 7 on defense will dominate this game.

Michigan 24
Ohio State 17

So Cal
UM+7 is the way to go. The Buckeyes are overrated. The Def is suspect. They haven't played a explosive offense yet. Michigan is a
complete team . UM+7 or ML if you got the balls you can't go wrong

Cal loses by 14+.
Pete Carrol will be very motivated this week .
USC is ready to make a NC run.

I totally agree with you on UM. The Def. will keep OSU in check. I already took the +7

They play an explosive offense more than any team in America has played against an explosive offense.

EVERYDAY IN PRACTICE.

id buy the 'ohio state is overrated' talk
..... if there was some substance behind it.

but this is a team that closed out 2005 by beating 3 ranked teams in 3 straight games to close the year (annihilating 2 of the 3 in the process, though to be fair mich was the exception)

and theyve done nothing but hammer teams from the time they kicked off against northern illinois in early september. the only struggle was against penn state. illinois was close on the scoreboard only after osu played tressel-ball once they got the lead.

michigan is damn good. and they will probably make pittman a non-factor. but the wolverines will have to win this one on their own merits -- not because ohio state is any sort of overrated. the buckeyes are certainly beatable. but they closed 2005 with a bang and brought back an even better offense this year that has steamrolled the big ten (albeit a weaker than normal b10, but the same one mich plays in. so both teams are putting up #s against the same opponents).

btw- tease, that was a :mj07: about your pete carroll post. though i do agree with tulah as far as the game goes.
