5-1 Yesterday for +27 UNITS! Its about time is all I can say!
Got a couple BIG ones and some small ones as well for tonight.
KC Royals @ MINN Twins
KC starter Affeldt is bothered by a blister on his pitching hand. His counterpart Santana has a 1.71 ERA as a starter, 0.92 ERA at home. Santana is 88-24 SO to BB ratio. Minnesota is 15-8 at home vs Kansas City the last 3 years. The Twin's bats are starting to come alive, scoring 28 runs the last 4 games against power pitching staffs of Oakland and Seattle.
Twins trail the Royals in the Central by 5.5 games and know that they can make a huge jump with a 2 game sweep here. Twins have returned from the All Star break on fire, sweeping a four-game home series over Oakland and then beat the Mariners on Monday, before having their five-game winning streak stopped last night, when they blew a 7-3 lead, in a 10-8 loss to Seattle.
Twins have given Johan Santana a regular spot in the rotation, as tonight the lefty makes his third consecutive start. He's been OUTSTANDING when given a chance this year, as in his five starts, he's allowed just 18 hits in 31.1 innings, allowing just six earned runs, for an ERA of 1.72! The Twins are 4-1 in his five starts, losing only when they were shutout by the Angels. The Royals' Jeremy Affeldt opened strong during the Royals fast start (5-1), but now that the team has "come back to earth", so has Affeldt. His record over his last 11 starts (4.72 ERA with the team going 3-8, including 1-4 on the road), is more similar to his record last season, when he posted an ERA of 5.45 and the Royals went 1-6!
(Affeldt) 5-5 Team is 8-9 In his starts, given up 101 hits in 90 innings 4.58 ERA
(Santana) 4-2 Team 4-1 In his starts, given up 62 hits in 79 innings 2.84 ERA
(Affeldt Last 3 games) 1-1 (team is 1-2) 17 hits, 18 INN, 3.93
(Sanat Last 3 games) 1-1 (team is 2-1) 11 hits, 20 INN, 2.21
One big difference is that the royals have been able to provide an average of 5.6 runs for Affeldt in his start overall and 3.0 over his last 3 starts compared to the Twins providing only 3.4 runs of support for Santana and only 2.0 in his last 3 starts. Santana will be out to prove that he belongs in the rotation and should be there to stay. The TWINS were last years surprise team and have a chance to put themselves in great position tonight with a win. The bats will continue to be hot....FINALLY giving Santana the support he needs to win BIG! His last outing was a great one getting a no decision (Twins did win though) over Oak and Zito where he pitched 7.1 Innings only giving up 4 hits, 1 walk, 1 run and K'ed 7! Minny will also be fired up to start getting things right with the Royals as their is Big Revenge factors here with Minny splitting @ home this year but going 1-6 in KC and have a 0-2-1 Series record vs them this year.

Love this game for a couple reasons. One, Wolf has been sharp this year and on the road. Two, newly acquired starters in the line-up for the cubs....will take some time to gel...this offense was rockin and now have some NEW changes....maybe for the best later but not immediately.
