WOW, talk about going out on a limb, he must
think no undefeated teams this season.

Cal is the Pac 10 champ :mj07: but USC #1
Tenn is the SEC champ :mj07: but LSU #2
No respect for the Gators
Anyone see any logic in these picks

Cal meets Tenn right out of the shoot, one will
be eliminated. Great to be talking College Football

And what's up with all the love with LSU

USC is +250 to win their 2nd BCS Title this season. LSU is second on the list at +800. Steele is not going out on a limb in selecting this BCS Title game.

I hope he's right, especially b/c the game will be played here, but I have a difficult time seeing LSU get past Va Tech week 2 with a new starting QB and a new OC.....

Cie, actually my comment about going out on a
limb was directed towards some of the other
matchups, I just had a general observation about
LSU. I hope your team does good Cie, but I'd bet
$$$ they have AT LEAST 2 loses this year, maybe
up to 4. JMHO.

sorry kramer but i disagree.i think that if lsu can get past vt, i think they could go undefeated.all of their tough games are at home.

at miss st
v.t.
mid. tenn
so. carolina
at tulane fla.
at kentucky
auburn
at bama
lou tech
at miss.
arkansas

besides vt, they can be challenged by so. car. & auburn because both of these teams have veteran passers & lsu will be replacing their safeties this year & that will be where their weakness will be.

but who knows......

sorry to disagree again with you kramer...but lsu is returning 8 players on defense with a strong front 7....fla. is starting a new qb who hasn't proven anything other than he is a good runner, so i don't see fla. beating lsu. however i will give you that arkansas may be able to beat lsu because they do have a veteran qb & with the tigers defense keying on mcfadden, dick may be able to beat them through the air...however ark. is replacing 3/5 of the offensive line & playing against a very strong defensive front of lsu & has only 4 starters coming back from last year's team.

the fact that lsu is playing all of tougher opponents at home, i just don't see them losing more than 2 games the whole season..with v.t. being their toughest challenge.

yeah isn't it great to talk football.....:00hour

First and foremost, I think USC will have a tougher go at it than LSU for a title run.

And I think VT is a great play at 10.5

But to comment on a Phil Steele head scratcher, he has USC as #3 Total Defense, and yet they arent even in his top 15 of Passing D's and yet right off the top they face Cal, Ore, and ASU which are all in Phil Steele's Top 15 PASS offenses. Does that make any sense to anyone? Are they going to be the most dominant run stopping team of all time?

Kramer--

I appreciate your ncaafb input. Anything can happen, but outside of an injury to Flynn, I would very surprised if this LSU team loses 4 based on their favorable schedule alone. I expect 1-3 losses this season including the SEC Championship game. Had Russel returned, I would expect nothing less than a appearance in the Nat'l title game.

I understand that 4 players were lost to the 1st round of the draft, but this team is still stacked to the point that there will be another 3 first round NFL draftees next season, including DT Glen Dorsey, DE Tyson Jackson and WR Early Doucet.

IMO Florida will take a step back this season, and I am looking forward to fading them early and often. Fla loses a ton on defense and start a new QB. I would be shocked to see them win the SEC East. I have a line on Fla regular season wins @ 10 under -210, but I am waiting to locate a 9 or 9.5, because I will not lay 2:1.

I actually expect FLA to lose 3-4 games this season, as I do not buy into the Tebow hype whatsoever. Clearly, I could be mistaken, but as someone else pointed out in this very thread, Tebow has not proven that he can throw the football. Of course, reports out of Gainesville indicate that he is showing wonderful arm strength and touch. I don't buy it, but we'll see.

Oh, and yes, it's great to be talking college football again:weed:

Agreed, the main concern on this LSU team outside of a new starting QB and new OC, is the secondary. Both corners are likely nfl-bound, but safety is an issue. If you recall, ND was actually able to move the football through the air in the 1H of the Sugar Bowl. The reason, Craig Steltz was playing while Jesse Daniels served a 1 hallf suspension for missing curfew. Steltz is beloved locally because he played HS in New Orleans, and because he made some big plays( tied for the team lead in INT's w/ 4). I am not sold on him and expect opponents to try to exploit this weakness.

AR and Cie, I totally understand where you're
coming from. I absolutely know LSU is loaded with
talent. I'm just looking at them from another
angle.
- I think they had a special team and a special
season last year. But look at these 4 games.
Aub 7 LSU 3
LSU 10 FLA 23
LSU 28 Tenn 24
Miss 20 LSU 23
SEC is death row. I was happy they beat Tenn
because I had a small amount of cabbage on them
but they got fricken lucky. ( Plus I can't stand
PHAT PHIL ). Miss 20 LSU 23. I think they lose
one of those nail biters this year. And those nail
biters could be Gamecocks or Hogs. I also don't
see them getting past both Alabama schools. But
they might. Still leaves Va. Tech and Gators. If
they slip past Va. Tech then the SEC will take it
from there. As for the Gators, more important
than the fact that they beat them last year is
the fact that UM does not know how to lose
regardless of the team or situation. To make a
long story short, Les will get outcoached even
though he may have the better talent.

Also guys, I am not rooting against LSU. In my
dreams LSU would go undefeated and stomp the
living shit out of USC in the NC game and while
their at it stomp the living shit out of PHAT PHIL
in the SEC championship game. :Yep:

Like AR, I agree UM is far better than Les, and I , too , respect your opinion.

I hope LSU makes a title run, but I do not see it happening for reasons I mentioned in multiple threads this week.

I also think if they get by VT, then that will give them juice to make a ride to New Orleans, but I know yall will think this a homer call but I see winning one big SEC game that everybody thinks we shouldnt win. Im not sayin it will be L.S.U but u never know.

No doubt LSU is very talented with probably the best defense in the country but it is hard to give them so many props with a totally unproven QB:shrug:

I guess no one thinks a team will score on them:mj07:

But that is NOT an easy schedule with potentially six top 20 opponents:scared
