Anyone live in either the Long Beach, CA. or San Diego area or familiar with a nice place to stay (or a bad place NOT to stay) ?

I need to find a nice hotel for my wife and I in the early part of November (7th to 14th). Will be down there for a conference and will spend the first 3 nights and the last night in San Diego just being tourists. And 4 nights from the 10th to the 13th for a conference at the Long Beach Convention Center.

if you want to try something new and unusual try staying at the Queen Mary Hotel. Its unique. Its right at the Harbour.

Both those Long Beach suggestions are good ones. If you don't mind driving about 6 miles, you can stay at Hilton or Marriot in Huntington Beach. They are both very new. But the Long Beach choices are good and offer you a variety to chose from.

stayed at the sheraton long beach last month.. its great.. also in san diego look to hotel circle.. you can take the trolley to downtown but it closes at midnight or 1 i think. I stayed at the Handelry and the Kings Inn there.. and while the Kings Inn isnt exactly classy.. i loved the waffle restraunt downstairs! Town and Country sucks... they suck bottom line please for the life of you dont give them businesss

wow! these are all great suggestions!
so far i'm liking the looks of The St. James in San Diego and i'll check out bgolds place (Kings). I'm also looking at the Radisson Hotel La Jolla ... with the third night being free it looks like a good deal. Anyone know about that place?

the long beach suggestions look great.
anyone know what the Coast Long Beach Hotel is like? (700 Queensway drive). looks like it is just around the bay from the convention center which might be walking distance and handy and might not be a bad place for my wife to hang out while i'm in seminars all day.

so far i know for sure where to have waffles!
i really appreciate all the experienced suggestions ... it makes the difference between a bad or good vacation and a great one. Thanks!
