When I am wrong I am really wrong. Dal loses by 12 and the Clips go over by 100. Well, not quite but if you were like me and played the under it seemed like 100. The over was never in jeopardy.

Dec 17 is when Ind has to go to Dal and if the line isn't rediculous I'll probably be on Dal again. I watched the game and this is the way I saw it. See if you saw the same thing I did.

On the surface I felt the refs were pretty consistant but this is mis-leading. They let the teams play physical and Dal without LaFrentz is not a physical team. I felt that Ind played more physical than I have seen them all year and the refs by letting them play a physical game actually gave Ind an advantage. The turning point of the game was the charging foul on Nowitski. If the call had gone the other way it would have been a five point game ( I believe Dal was down by 8 at the time, might be off by 2 here) and might have been enough to get Dirk out of his funk.

Don't get me wrong, I think Ind was more than ready to play and had a great game plan. That might be the best I have ever seen Thomas coach. Going to the zone when Dal went on that run was a killer and totally un-exspected by Dal. But the bottom line is that the refs and a great game plan did not win this game for Ind.

The fact is that Nowitski and Finley went 11-40 and most of those shots were wide open looks at the basket. At the same time the Ind first six were shooting 57% for the game and it wasn't like Dal wasn't playing d. Anything O'neal, Harrington, and B Miller put in the air went in and a lot of those were not easy shots. 64% for the game.

Here's how I see it. Ind outshot Dal by 10 fg and out rebounded Dal 54-36 and still only won by 12. Should have been a lot more. If Nowitxki shoots just 40% (he's a 45% shooter), Dal wins and covers. That's not even counting Finley. If the line isn't totally screwed up on Dec 17 (high) I'll be on Dal. Might even if it looks too high.

GSP..

Would you put these Pacers in your Top 5? I think that they are very well balanced. If they need to run and gun they can do it...if they are forced to play a half court game they can do this as well. They play good D...are very deep off the bench...and can rebound. I think this team wins the east.

I agree with your assessment of the game. That Nowitzki charge was BS and you're right...was probably the turning point. If he gets that, it builds momentum and Dallas wakes up. Bad call by the refs. As you also stated, Dallas was missing wide open looks all game long. Indy probably played the best game they possibly could have against Dallas and only won by 12. Any other team and Indy probably wins by 20 easily, especially the way they shot in that 1st quarter. Will look at Dallas next game as well.

Thanks for the good "stuff"!

Pacerfan, if you mean one of the top five in the east you could be right. They have had a pretty easy way of it so far. They lost to NJ by 11 and Det by 15. They haven't played Phil, Bos nor NO. They beat Mil at home by 3. Here's five teams in the east that might give them a run for their money. Other than last night (I'm not sure that proved anything) they've only played Hou and Minn in the west. The west is still much stronger than the east. You saw what the Clips did to NJ last night. The Lakers (when Shack is back full strenght), Sac, Dal, Sea, and Port are all better day in and day out than Ind. Your point guard and your coach will be the down-fall of Ind. As a pacer fan it's sure good to see them 12-2 with the second best record in the NBA. Good luck the rest of the year.

Let's not forget Reggie was injured and only came back for the past two games. He opens-up everything for the guys inside as teams have to respect his jumper. Artest is playing on a different level this season, Brad Miller and O'Neal are the best PF/C duo in the league, and these are mainly younger guys who are only going to get better as the season progresses. The key is Tinsley, but as he showed last night, he can play, just a matter of consistency. I think they are the most well-balanced team in the East, great bench, excellent combination of outside/inside scoring, have a money player in Reggie and a shutdown perimeter defender in Artest.

Dirk finally had to guard someone bigger than him.
Jermaine O'neal.

You can say all you want about missed shots...
Dallas is not gonna make them all the time.

What I saw was a physical Indy team that pounded the ball
low inside to O'neal...and Dallas had no answer.

When they doubled him..they kicked it out to Tinsely
and other guards.

It's all about making shots....

This is why Dallas will not win this year

As they go deeper in the playoffs...the teams get bigger
and Raef Lafrentz and Shawn Bradley are not the answer.

Dallas may try to outscore San Antone or the Lakers

But all the match-ups favorite the Kings

Madam Barkley

Madam Barkley

SIMON, yours word echo those of Barkley. This is the same NBA analyst who said Yao Ming won't score more than 20 points a game this season. Indiana had one great game. They played way over their head to beat a team that was playing back-to-back on the road. Good go against team in their next game as the public will be all over Indi after last night.

By the way, I already have Dallas -14 tomorrow at home agaisnt Chicago.
