Nashvillle jumps out at me tonight as a solid choice getting the half goal priced at -110. Preds playing at Calgary, which has gone just 1-4-1 its last six games (admittedly, they skated to a tie vs. Colorado -- a moral victory). Nashville was 4-0-1 before the Olympic break and has since lost to San Jose (no shame in that) and beat Edmonton on the road Both teams are battling for the low seed in the playoffs and this appears to be a toss-up situation that could go either way. I see the half goal as a real bargain here, in a game that could very well end up as a tie.

NASHVILLE +.5 (-110) vs. CALGARY

Any thoughts from the NHL cappers here before I send in the bet?

will play calgary in this game. Reasoning is this, first and foremost it is a tough thing to ask of a team to win on the road in the NHL, especially a mediocre team at best and then to ask them to win two in a row after being on the road for a while. HOme team has covered all but two in the last ten. Calgary playing better as of late with quality win over St. Loo on 28th. The line is suspect to me as Vegas doesn't give away money. I look for the public to play the Nashville side cuz of alot of the same reasons you posted therefore makes great value for a winning team at home! Now keep in mind my record in posts after the break is 8-7-1 so this is just my opinion but I feel it is solid. I like Calgary here ....good luck whatever you do dude:D

You are most likely on the correct side - however

Like the way the Flames are playing, a tie vs Colorado and win over Stlouis in their two games since the break. Calgary has scored (4,2,3,5,5) last 5 games as a host to Nashville, and NAsh is not nearly as good defensively on the road seeing the OVER go 17-7. Their road PK is also only 83%.

Trends are only trends - here are some

Nashville 2-11 ATS on the road vs. teams with losing records this season
Nashville 2-9 ATS on the road after covering a spread .

Not trying to change your opinion- just playing
devils advocate-----

best of fortune

Nash also jumped out to me.

I'm looking to play them, but not sure after these arguements.

Nash has won last 3 matchups against Cal and won 3 of last 4 on road. In their last 5 gms are only giving up 2g/gm. Think I may take the .5 pt and run.

Points for Nashville -

1. Preds have won 2 games against Calgary this year,
1-0 at home and 5-4 OT at Calgary.

2. Both teams have 24 wins.

3. Dunham 2.43 GAA and Turek[Cal] 2.47

4. Nash PP 26 but PK is 3rd ranked.
Cal PP 22 and PK 26

5. Nash 5-1-1 last 7

Points against Nashville

1. Preds have beaten Calgary 2 times already. If the teams are equal, and each has 24 wins, Calgary should bounce back and win the final 2.

2. Last year Preds were 18-18-2-3 on the road. This year they are 9-20.

3. Nash is 5-1-1 last 7. It is hard for even the good teams to play at that level for that long.

3. Nash is a streaky team...which team is going to show up? The same can be said for Calgary who have wins over MIN, DET, VAN, and STL in the last 10 games...

I'll pass...

Is hockey like football? Where some teams mtchup well againt others. (ex. Giants vs. Eagles, would take G-men every time until this year)

If Nash won 1st 2 does that mean they have something on Cal or that match up well with them or does that not matter in hockey. B/c if Nash has something on Cal then this ame could be excellent value.

Just asking, I don't know enough about teams to answer that question.

Great feedback. Very much appreciated. I downgraded the play to just a half unit, since there are some heavyweights on Calgary -- who make convincing arguements. I owe you guys one, for some really thoughtful feedback.

Indeed, it seems that some teams seem to have the edge or "the number" of a particular team. This is something I always look at, especially in divisional games. There is no great rivalry in this game that I am aware of, and both these teams seem to be about the same talent and coaching wise.

You know in baseball that is true also. The O's are always up for the Yankees...:)
