Louisville football's Adam Froman, Bilial Powell won't play against Syracuse

After hoping injuries to quarterback Adam Froman and running back Bilal Powell would heal in time for Saturday's game at Syracuse, the University of Louisville announced in Thursday's injury report submitted to the Big East that both players are out.

The Cards will go with either Justin Burke or Will Stein at quarterback. Burke was the opening-day starter last season before an injury knocked him out of the lineup after three games. He has thrown just seven passes this season, completing five for 40 yards and a touchdown, with an interception.

I know about the depth behind Powell, who is an overchiever, but the QB change is gonna have a serious dropoff.

This spread to be 7 1/2 or higher by noon tomorrow if the game was on ESPN2 instead of nascar, but its on the smallish BigEast Network, limiting viewership. Smart money might be backing Lville here, but this line has to go up either way.

Usually RBs are the easiest position to fill, but the QB is huge like you said. Burke was actually a stud recruit but was 4th string through spring and was thinking of transferring a second time. Not exactly the traits of a leader. Will Stein's a walk on.
