Louisville's pass defense, already a weak spot in the Cardinals' 5-5 season, has taken another hit.
Junior cornerback Rod Council has been suspended from Saturday's game at USF for a violation of team rules, according to a release from the school's sports information office, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported Monday.
Council, who has started all 10 games for Louisville, leads the Cardinals with two interceptions and has 29 tackles this season. His backup, according to the team's official depth chart, is junior Travis Norton, who has four tackles this season.
With Council playing in every game, Louisville has the Big East's worst pass efficiency defense, ranking 108th nationally. The Cardinals have allowed opponents to pass for 249 yards per game, with five opponents scoring 38 points or more this season.
