Getting points at home in the SEC is just hard to turn down. The only thing that really worries me here is "The Mad Hatter." That guy has the biggest horseshoe crammed up his ass, it seems.

Having said that, I find myself in a situation where I like the home puppy...which means going against LSU. I'm gonna take the 4 points. The short week favors the home team, IMO. The students at Miss St were given the day off from classes, as stupid as that sounds. Crowd will be as rowdy as it has ever been for a game.

Miss St needs to be able to run the ball on LSU. That's a little tough, but I think that the Bulldogs will be able to just enough to keep control of the clock.

.......................

So what does everyone think about the total. Right now I see it's at 50. Everything that's in me says this game has to go under. Can someone argue for the alternative? 50 seems awfully high to me.

For now, locking in:

very unlikely i'll play this game but I disagree with the short week theory.

both teams are coming off a short week, where Miss. State just lost a battle against Auburn, and LSU coasted to a win over a cupcake in Northwestern State.

if either team is going to show signs of fatigue or any other negative effect just based on the short week, I would definitely have to assume it would be Miss State because of their opponent and the type of game it was. I severely doubt LSU is nursing any fatigue in a win over a cupcake where most if not all the starters were pulled after limited work.

that angle alone would not be close to enough for me to back Miss State, especially with how elite the LSU defense is.

and the fact remains that Miss State has just 2 wins vrs. the SEC West in the 3 years Mullen has been under the helm.....both vrs. rival Ole Miss.

I would lean towards LSU if I could lay a field goal, but laying points on the road in this league is dangerous and it's probably best to watch a good game instead of digging for something to play just because it's the only game on the board tonight.

GL though either way.

Good point, AP. I was more just making the point of the short week, as it pertains to travel. You are right about the coasting vs grinding it out all game long. But sometimes, I think playing a tough game can be more beneficial than playing a "tuneup" game against a crappy opponent.

Good points you make. Still like Miss St getting the points at home. LSU is the king of winning a close game in the end. That's why I'm not touching the ML.

What do you think about the total?

Nice start. This game really looks like it's gonna stay close. I don't know....but it certainly seems to me that these two teams might start scoring 7 instead of 3. I'm looking at the over 21.5........

hmmmmm
