In yesterday's spring practice, Kregg Lumpkin, hurt his leg. He is marked as our #1 tailback.

Rumor from a guy that has some connections is that he will be out for the entire season. This will put the load of work on two freshmen and a sophomore.

This will definitely impact our hopes of a national title. :cursin:

confirmed:

Georgia's projected starting running back injures his knee
Georgia sophomore tailback Kregg Lumpkin suffered an injury to his left knee during Monday's non-contact practice session. He was evaluated by team physicians and underwent an MRI Monday evening. Further evaluation of test results will be conducted Tuesday at which time a complete diagnosed will be determined, but early indications is that it could be a torn ACL as the knee "seemed like it was a little loose."

This is definitly a big loss but the Dawgs do have some nice athletes waiting in the wings and I think a sleeper could be Danny Ware, he has a ton of speed and power. They still have Cooper to fall back on as he is battle tested and is a big durable back!

MC has great information as usual. What do you think of the RB situation as a whole?
Kregg Lumkins out for season, torn L. ACL.
Tony Milton started the frist 3 gms LY but was lost for the season with a leg injury.
Albert Hollis has been injured and has yet to play.
Danny Ware Fr. X-factor.
Michael Copper had 8 sts. and led the team with 672 yds but has considered transfering and has missed practice time because of migraines.
Not a single Dawg RB topped 100 yds rushing in a single gm LY. That hasn't happened since 1972.
I'm a Gerogia fan.
What do you think??
Best Wishes

What a bummer for Georgia. The good news is it is at a position where young kids can step up. As a young inexperienced player, the running back position is one of the easiest positions to be effective in college football. Many high school stars can start right away and be effective at the RB position. UGA fans just gotta hope these young replacements hold onto the ball.

UGA is fortunate enough to have an experienced OL and QB. Therefore these new RB's won't be counted on too much for picking up the blitzes.

UGA should be fine IMO especially the way Richt recruits! Good luck to UGA this season and hopefully no more serious practice injuries!

I dont think it's time to circle the wagons for the Dawgs to have a nice run this year as the depth at the position is quite strong! Between Milton, Cooper and Ware the running game should be quite efficient and you also have to realize that the Dawgs have one of the best college QB's in the country and that the offensive line should be very strong this year!
