I have been trying my hardest to get a website together and everything was going well, until the guy who was supposed to design it for me backed out and now I am back to square one, as I know nothing about creating a website.

However to forget about my problems for awhile I have deicded to take some time and devote the day to capping the bases...so in this thread I will throw in a couple of writeups and such which hopefully will add up to a nice relaxing night...of course stranger things have happened....

Let's start off with an early contest

Cleveland -145 @ Detroit

Burba's numbers are so impressive it is hard to go against him....

19-5 last 24 road starts
7-1 in his last eight starts this season
21-4 last 25 starts
15-6 in May since 98
2-0 vs Detroit this season
2-0 o/u vs Detroit this season

but not so fast, as Burba has only pitched seven innings in two of his last ten starts and that means bullpen time, and if you get a chance to read IE's post the bullpen is tired......

on to Tiger starter Santos
He has only pitched three games, including a loss to the indians, but his numbers are decent as he as an era of 2.56 and a whip of 1.04 both lower than Burba. The key is he is at home tonight, and has pitched well in Detroit pitching 16 innings and allowing six hits, and zero runs. At homethe opposition is only batting .120 vs Santos at home and .190 overall.

The mood in the clubhouse for the Tigers will be a bit loose tonight as they will do a Kangaroo court before the game.....

"We'll laugh a little bit, have a little fun, and it will bring us together a little bit," said Palmer, a kangaroo court veteran from his pre-Tigers days. "Not that we're not a close team now. But it's something to change the mood at times when things aren't going well."

I think there is some value in backing the hometeam Tigers tonight:

Detroit Tigers +135

Leaving the total alone as my early leans like the Over, but with Burba throwing well of late, and Santos looking sharp at home, I'll pass......

Sneaks, I'm with you on Detroit. Cleveland is better team but Burba lacks the stamina and pen has got to be a little tired. With this line I took the Tigers in hopes that they did not use up all their hits yesterday.

Florida -120 @ Pittsburgh

Something seems a little quirky with this line, now I know the fish have a better record than the Pirates, and AJ threw a no-no this year, but I think the wrong team may be favored in this one....

Florida:
6-13 in their last 19 played on the road
2-6 in their last eight games overall
18-45 on the road vs lefties since '98
Five wins in the last 11 meetings at
Pittsburgh

AJ Burnett:
1-5 in his last six road starts
3-7 in his last ten starts
5-11 @ pittsburgh
Marlins are only giving him 2.7 runs in support...

The pirates have never won three in a row this year (0-5) but I think tonight that will change as they have won three straight at home, and they have Anderson on the hill and this lefty loves to throw at the new park in pittsburgh as he is 2-0, era 2.30. The pirates are 5-0 this year when he pitches at home.

I have no problem backing the Pirates who are playing well of late and finding ways to win, to include a rally in yesterday's contest.

Pirates +110

Minnesota -120 @ Angels

Milton has struggled in his last three games as his era is a hefty 7.56 Ortiz is only 1-2, era at 4.33 in his last three but the difference in this game will be the hitting.

The angels have won seven out of the last ten against the twins, and the hit lefties at a .273 clip this year, which is 13 more points than they hit against right handers. The angels have shuffled the lineup and with Salmon knocked down to the seventh spot because of bad hitting, he could get a boost tonight. Salmon is a .293 career hitter against the Twins, including .325 last season, with 15 homers. If the bottom of the lineup led by Salmon hit the ball I look for it to be a long night for the twinkies.

I'll back my third home dog of the night in this spot....

Angels +110

Can't touch the total w/o a home plate umpire....

Last game of the night for me....

Arizona @ SF -165 / 9

Arizona has taken the last three out of four in this series, and have won four straight on the road. The giants have went in the other direction as they have dropped three out of the last four.

Reynoso has not pitched badly although he is only 0-2 in his last three starts the problem has been run support. The D-backs are only giving hin 1.0 runs in those starts. I think there is more value in taking The D-backs here than the giants, but with a banged up pen who had to work OT yesterday, I'll just play the total.

UNDER 9 E

Foster behind the plate is only letting teams get an average of just over 8 runs a game and with the wind blowing in at 18 mph's, and the d-backs inability to hit a soutpaw, I have no problem seeing a 4-2, game in this one.
