all i can tell u is the Buffet is a well kept secret as to how good it is.

Table rules nuthing special.

Have not made a sports bet there. Overall a very physically nice place. Wd probably be a very good New Years Eve location. It's a really long haul to get there from the STRIP !!

M rooms are excellent with floor to ceiling windows, Bose radio, TV in the bathroom and an oversized tub separate from the shower. Also has a flat screen and excellent view of the strip if you are on that side of the hotel.

The hotel is very modern and you can spend some time just walking around. The pool area is very very nice.

Casino has range of table stakes down to $10 but, most are $15...they still pay 3-2 on BJ. My wife says the slots are loose and winnable. The poker room seems lively but, I don't play. If you or your wife play slots, check out the requirement for a free buffet as it is reachable on a daily basis.

Poster is right...the buffet is very good. Deli not so hot. All bars have beers at $3 and any premium drink at $5.

The sports book is run by Cantor. The set-up is very nice with indvidual betting stations and you can sign up for game or in-game wagering from any station. They also let you use your laptop at the individual stations.

No bonus or points for sports bets although you do earn food credits for the racebook. Free drinks are spotty and there seems no standard for getting a ticket. Lines are long. Staffing is modest as they want you to sign up for the automated wagering.

It is very, very far from the strip. You must have a car if you want to go anywhere else. If you are at the M for multiple days, I would also recommend a trip to South Point which you can get to by cab as it is just north of the M (not walkable).

Let me know if I can clarify further.

South Point has a very nice Prime Rib offer ($12) in the cafe

azbob & krc--on my next trip I have narrowed it to the m and southpoint--which would you opt for? I have never been to either. My wife plays slots all day--I usally have a few beers-cigar-sit in the sportsbook. Try a different food place each day/nite. Would like to see which place you would choose m or southpoint--want to get a way from the strip for a change. Thanks.

That is a tough call. You will like the sportsbook better at the M but, there are more food options at Southpoint and I think the slots pay a little better there plus you will find more lower minimum tables.

Honestly, I would take the best room deal and be confident you will have a great experience. Either way, make sure your wife signs up for the slots club immediately. We had our entire stay comped at the South Point based on my wife's play plus she won money. (mainly 3-hand VP for $3.75 a roll for hours on end)

At South Point, someone already mentioned the prime rib dinner which is a great buy. They have a Steak and Shake there as well as a movie theather. A bonus for you could be the spa is excellent. The buffet is not bad and very low priced. The deli next to the sports book is probably the best in LV.

When I was there last (Dec) they had a tequila bar right next to the Mexican restaurant. All shots and tequila drinks were $2 including Patron.

Racebook is full of old timers (it is separate from the sports book). They do have more betting options at the sports book and the waiting line is never too long.

Rooms are much nicer than any standard room at a Harrahs property but, M has the edge there. You are about four miles closer to the strip at SP and they will arrange to pick you up at the airport if you call ahead (also drop you off...both free).

If you like the racebook, I would plan a day, go to the M eat the buffet for lunch or dinner and spend the day in the book (sports and racing together). I think a cab ride would be well under $20.

Make sure your wife gets an M card too and you should since they take it at the racebook. If you stay there, I can give you the name of my host and, after a few days there, give him a call and he will evaluate your play and see what he can do.

South Point

Stayed there a month last year over New Years. They had a 2nd night free deal and i booked 15 buy one get ones. Like the coffe shop.......... best..... deals i know of in vegas. Rooms always well under a $100 bucks. Looked up M's room rates and they are way more than i will pay. At $80 to $90 / night i will stay in a timeshare where i get every thing u need.

Stayed at Blue Green TS on Tropicana this winter...east of the strip a few blocks. I stay most winters 2 months plus....so M's rates are way more than i will pay on a 2 month stay....... for a week its great as has been mentioned. So i guess i am endorsing South Point as a bargain. Just saw $42 rates at SP fer the summer.

Been to both, and I really like the South Point. Location is much better, table limits are reasonable and the restaurants are decent. The M is so far away from everything.....but it is a cool place.

Note: The taxi ride from South Point to the "M" ain't cheap. Just throwing that out here for ya.

Also......when I was in the whirlpool at South Point two hot chicks just started kissing and fondling right in front of me. I must say I was a big fan of the pool area:brows:

And no I was not allowed to join in.....but I did enjoy the show.

South Point is great for breathing in second hand smoke. M is a classy joint. Yea, its off the beaten path but is wildly popular with the locals, who are notoriously cheap! South point is Chevy; M is Lexus.
