Been on a roll lately after being on a little slump...

Central Michigan -5(bought hook): Lost a heart breaker at Kent St. BG is undermanned and I dont think Kevin Netter can carry a team like Chris Kaman can. Too much adversity for Dakich to handle with all his star players going down with injuries. I think this is a generous number - actually is 5.5 but dont feel like getting hook :p . It`ll be interesting to see the Kaman/Netter match-up as that will be the entertaining part of the game....but of course, this game lies on the shoulders of JR Wallace and Mike Manciel. These 2 gurads keep on producing, despite losing at Kent - they played a hell of a game. And going against BG RESERVE guards, this should be a easy double digit win...

Eastern Michigan +8.5: Again looking at the match-ups here. Obvisouly Eastern doesnt have the guards to guard Akrons supertalented guards, but on the flip side of things - Akron may score lots of points but they also just give up tons of points too. Speaking of match-ups....who`s gonna guard Ryan Prillman??? Byron Thompson?? Akron still non-theless played a 2 OT game, and that`ll change things a bit, then again last time I picked a game based on OT theory - I lost :( so let`s hope it goes different this time ;)

Buffalo +13.5: No reason really...I mean I do have reasons buttt just a total gut feeling pick.

Northern Illinois -3(bought hook): Marcus Smallwood and PJ Smith are gonna be a HANDFUL and I mean that in a nice way :) I know very few have heard of these 2 and not many have seen them play, but if your a true basketball fan - you`d appreciate what they bring to the court everygame. They play hard and aggressive. Akron did a HELL of a job containing PJ Smith which I thought Akron had no shot in hell of doing. "I thought that for the first 34 minutes, we didn't play Northern Illinois basketball," Huskie head coach Rob Judson said. "The last six minutes we showed a lot of character. We made a lot of big shots. This is a tough loss. The second greatest emotion is losing." That character is one of those turning points IMO for the Huskies. They finally had a game where adversity kicked in...and they responded DESPITE the loss. If NIU can just contain Matt McCollom and Chris Williams then this should be a easy win. Then again...easier said then done when it comes to Chris Williams. Williams LOVES shooting 3 pointers and doesnt drive the lane as much as ya think he would

Kent St/Western Michigan - Iam just gonna play the line movement. My brain and heart says Western Michigan - Iam not ready to lay 6 points to Antonio Gates though....will have a pick tomorrow

Little follow-up on NIU - I think that the Convo Center(BRAND NEW) is gonna end up being a tough place to play at. Always a good thing playing in a new place - just adds to the emotion...

Smallwood did log 49 minutes on Thursday. I'm a little concerned about the Huskies coming back after a 2 OT loss on just 1 day rest.

Thats true, however that was in DeKalb...Akron had to travel al the way back to Akron after the 2 OTs. The Huskies just went to their dorms :p

Little Article On Kent St...line is going up by the way...

Where KSU goes, big games follow
Golden Flashes used to facing teams in need of win
By Brian Windhorst
Beacon Journal staff writer

KENT - Jim Christian is beginning to sound like a broken record.

Every time the Kent State coach readies for an opponent, he is nearly overwhelmed with the gravity of the game.

``It seems everyone we play is playing us in a must-win game or a game for first place,'' Christian said as he went through the routines of preparing his team for today's 4 p.m. game at Western Michigan. ``Nothing comes easy in this league, nothing.''

The Flashes have beaten Marshall and Central Michigan in games for first place in the last two weeks and have also had to go on the road to play Toledo and Akron while those teams were trying to break losing streaks.

Next week, it's a home game with Miami for first place in the Mid-American Conference East Division, a road game at current MAC West-leader Bowling Green and a home game with Northern Illinois, which is in second place in the MAC West.

Next up, though, are the Broncos (12-5, 4-4). The Broncos went 8-1 in nonconference play, including wins on the road over Michigan and Auburn. That made them the early favorite to win the MAC West Division.

Since, though, four stumbles in the tightly packed conference have put them in a compromising position. Just two games separate all seven teams in the MAC West, where the Broncos stand fourth. A win over the MAC-leading Golden Flashes (14-2, 7-1) would be a huge step in righting the ship.

``They're a very talented, deep and well-coached team,'' Christian said.

``We know that we are in for one of our toughest games of the season.''

Broncos coach Robert McCullum uses a rotation of 11 players and has a very balanced scoring attack led by Mike Williams (14.1 ppg), Anthony Kann (13.0), and Robby Collum (12.8).

Western Michigan has nine juniors and seniors and plays excellent defense, ranking fourth in the nation in that category heading into this week. Western Michigan is also 6-1 on its home floor.

Those are all the tools in the blueprint for a solid mid-major team, which the Broncos are. Before a loss at Toledo on Tuesday, Western Michigan was ranked 60th in the ratings percentage index, the second-highest position in the MAC behind Kent State (50th).
