The first round of The Masters has now begun. Thus far every single newspaper, television or radio story I?ve heard has included the requisite mention of Martha Burk and her assault on the Constitutional right of Americans to freely assemble. Thus far Burk is getting what she wants ? publicity.
Why is this news? And why is the ACLU supporting this idiotic cause? There are no laws being broken. Augusta National is a strictly private club. It enjoys no special government protections and pays taxes just like every other private entity in the country. How in the world have we come to the point in America where it should be considered either illegal or immoral for a group of private citizens to get together to celebrate and participate in their shared interests?
Martha Burk is an unpleasant publicity-seeking left-wing fool. Come on, folks! She?s a liberal feminist nut-case with no discernable job skills or social abilities! Why does the media seem so intent on making her an icon?
