I would say Marquez needed it. The way that fight was going, his face was getting cut up, and I didn't see him making it the distance...

What a fucking fight though!

I don't think he was winning big. Kevin Iole said all 3 judges had it 47-46 before that...which I'm not sure how the hell they came up with that. I thought it was 48-45, but whatever. I just think that the way the fight was going and the punishment that Marquez was taking, specifically his face getting cut up, that he would slow more and more, and his chances of survival were slim.

I do think he needed that KO though!

Pac Man was not winning the fight big:nono: It was pretty even up to that point but Marquez new he needed the KO to win the fight because he would have never won a decision as evidenced by past fights. Great fight.

Agreed to some degree. I dont think he was winning big, but he definitely was convincingly winning. Marquez had a moment or 2 in each round, but for the most part Pac-Man was doing damage for most of rounds.

"the bunker"
two of the classiest boxers to ever come down the pike.....

as a huge marquez fan,i was extremely happy to see him get his just due......fight looked to be flowing manny`s way(probably the 3rd momentun shift in the fight to that point).....then came the k.o.(one of thee most brutal k.o.`s i`ve ever seen....from maybe the greatest counter puncher the lighter weights has ever seen)....i think manny was pressing for his own stoppage and got careless...

very sorry to see manny go out like that, but, marquez had toiled beneath the enormous shadow of eric morales and barrera his whole career......

i really think that pacquaio`s lifestyle got the best of him to a certain extent(politician/star/filipino demigod)......

amazing stuff.....congrats to j.m.m......

Winning big was incorrect.

But he was 100% winning the fight at that point.
