I think we have the 2 Best Teams in the AL in the series and I believe the winner of this series wins it all. That being said here's my take on the series and Game 1.

I think the Yankees offense is finally awake now. It took them a couple games but they are scoring runs, and they did it against Oakland's best in the the last game. I always was under the impression that the Yankee's teams of the past 5 years just lallygagged it through the regular season and they could actually "turn it on" once the postseason arrived. I mean who did they have to beat to win their division, Boston???

Seattle has had a remarkable season and I believe they are the most well rounded team as far as defense, offense, starting pitching and bullpens go. An advantage I see for Seattle is the fact they lost one road series all year (0-3 at Oakland 9/21-23---they tied series on 5 other occasions---vs Minn 1-1, 5/22-23//vs Col 1-1, 6/12-14//vsOak 2-2, 6/18-21//vsTexas 2-2, 7/2-5//vs KC 1-1, 7/18-19//)
So if they win the series in NY (which they already have twice this season) they will need 2 of 4 at home, if it goes the 7.

Stats: regular season

The Yankees batted .267 this season and that average tailed off late in the year, declining in August, September, and so far this month.
Seattle is batting .288 which includes a .293 avg away and they have actually batted .305 or better since September.

Yankees pitchers have a 4.02 ERA this season overall with the bullpen sporting a 3.38 ERA. Against Seattle they had a 4.33 ERA overall.
Righties bat .260 against them, and they give up a .266 avg away.
Seattle had a 3.54 ERA with the bullpen having a 3.04 overall ERA. Against the Yankees this year they had an overall ERA of 4.11. Batting average against was .236 overall with lefties batting .245 and righties even worse at .228. THe bullpen had an overall BAA of 2.02

The Mariners also lead the Yankees in Runs, Hits, OB%, walks, thye strikout less and steal more bases. The Yankees do hit more home runs, which Seattle pitchers do give up.

Overall I think the Mariners are the stronger team both offensively and defensively. However, the Yankees ARE the World Champs and deserve all the credit in the world as long as they keep winning (despite spending more $$$$ than anyone to accomplish the wins).

I am taking the Mariners in the Series.

In game one, I believe the traveling will affect the Yankees. They are an older team and I think it will finally catch up with the old bones. Pettite had an 8.03 ERA vs the Mariners this year and I think that will continue in the first game.

Seattle in game 1

good luck everyone...
