FLORIDA MARLINS +115 ? The Marlins have heated up, winning 4 straight games, and they look like a very live underdog vs. the last-place Phillies. Sure, Dempster has been a disappointmnet, but he actually has a good ERA of 3.70 in 7 road starts this year. The last time he pitched on the road, he held the Mets to just 2 runs and 7 hits in 6.1 innings in a 5-3 Florida win. Duckworth is an unimpressive 2-4 with a high 5.11 ERA. We was rocked by the Expos in his last start, allowing 7 earned runs in 4.2 innings. The Phils as a team have lost his last 4 starts. Also, the Marlins are now 5-2 in the last 7 head-to-head meetings.

FYI ... Phillies fan here ... I don't disagree with you here cause the Phillies really are playing way below their talent level and I don't know why cause I like Bowa and think he is good manager for the most part. He needs to be a bit more aggressive with baserunning and bunting IMO opinion and let the starters go deeper in games when they are throwing well since the bullpen is pretty questionable. Otherwise, I like his fiery temperment and they fact that he'll call out players playing below their potential.

Anyway, back to my point of commenting in this thread. Duckworth has been the victim of about 3 really bad innings this year. Otherwise, his ERA would be pretty good. The weather up here in the NE is very muggy and humid and I could see this one going over if the plate umpire is not a pitchers ump with a good size strike zone cause both Dempster and Duckworth have trouble when they are not getting calls. Just my thoughts since I pretty much watch the Phillies every game even though they piss me off constantly cause most of them are so damn undisciplined at the plate.

Good Luck!
