I've been waiting for this overlay for weeks.
(I hope I'm right cuz CT sure looks good)
CT is a dominant team and will wear Marquette down and get the W........They have sooooo many good players that IMHO their 2nd 5 would compete for BE title....BUT...ya can only play 5 at a time...........................
Marcus Williams returns as one of the premier points in the country....game ready ??? probably (and he better be ready to take a beating from the crowd.) Freshman Austrie will start at point.. Now here it gets interesting...Calhoun will try to get ready for the grind of the BE where ALL will try to dictate tempo to a slower half-court game. To that end he may start another freshman in place of Denham Brown...That would be Marcus Johnson..(he will be a big talent) long, lean, athletic etc..quick hands and will put the pressure D that JC wants.. Hilton Armstrong had 26 in last and thought he was MJ...He better defer a little more tonight... Josh Boone is solid but AWOL offensively...Rudy Gay missed last game with an ankle and will get the steals and put the pressure on BUT 28% from 3 and JC wants lots more from him. Oh ..no question that he can do things like no other...BUT whats after the 360 slam.. Toughest guys on the court NOT to get a lot of pt will be Jeff Adrian (Big future) and Ed Nelson..Denham Brown now has to fight for his minutes..........and that leaves Rashaad Anderson.. If he gets started its lights out...He will beat out Chris Smith, Ray Allen, and Rip Hamilton for career 3s ...and he comes off the bench. So we all know CT is loaded.........So Why 10/9.5

I like Tom Crean... and the Bradley Center will be ROCKING with 18,500 screaming (at Marcus Williams among others)..............Wesley Mathews will not play tonight and Marquette does not go too deep..they will miss his 25 min and 10 points.
CT will do a lot of shuffling...in and out and that will wear out the opponent but thats how a 15 point leads goes back to 5 or 6.......Saw it.over and over again in the Ark, AZ and Gonzaga games.
Further, Marquette likes the 3 and CT perimeter D can be had... I'm looking for 20 + 3s from them at about 40%........Sometimes having too much talent can detract as the ebb and flow is always changing..Certainly good enough to Win and win big............BUT............This game IS HUGE for Marquette...1st BE game....packed house...I think it stays respectable....... Oh...90+% like CT tonight

Marquette +10

Me Too.........

Me Too.........

I almost talked myself into it... :mj07:
Now ..with all those 40 to 60 point wins vs the cupcakes ...thats gotta create an illusion of greatness.....an overlay ....taking a shot on the little guy.

So. Cal
I stayed away from this game though it was hard, I have taken Marquette many times against big names and they have covered most. But i like UCONN to win the NC..... still. So i never put money on a two teams i really like. Like when Duke played Bucknell, really like Bucknell after they beat my jayhawks, but Duke is another NC title contender in my mind. Bucknell got beat by 40 I think. Great write up though.

Still very high on CT

Still very high on CT

Jim Calhoun coaches for March...
He started 2 freshmen tonight and played others on the bench extensively. They're VERY deep and VERY good but Marquette is well coached and CT will always get every opponents A game...Novak for Marquette was "lights out" 6'10"...41 points and 16 reb and hasnt missed a free throw since last year...Wow! He took it to CT and they played confused and demoralized in the second half. Gave up 50 + points....That ain't CT basketball.... Oh.. I think they will lose more than once or twice but when March rolls around.....They will be 11 deep, battle tested and ready for the tournament.
