Not a lot of time right now to fully dig into this Maryland team and I think it is extremely difficult to cap these initial games given the limited preparation for the season.

For now, the one thing I know it that ODU is not a very good offensive team and that they play strong defense. The other thing I know is that the one thing Maryland will do is play good defense. Maryland is also a long team and ODU is a guard oriented team that does not shoot well from the outside. ODU only averaged 65.6 PPG last year and Maryland only gave up 64.5 PPG against a much tougher schedule. I will be surprised if ODU reaches 60.

This leads me to an initial small play:

Maryland Under 134 -123

I just do not expect either team to shoot very well in this game. The FH Under is probably a good bet also. I am also interested to see how Maryland plays without the strong home crowd. This crowd picks them up all the time when they are struggling, so they are not going to have that advantage. Should be an ugly game.

Thanks Keith!

Wow, I thought it may come down a little, but that is a big move. I always try to cap as early as possible for this reason. I am certainly wrong sometimes, but in NCAA sports it can pay off big time to get bets in early.

Hopefully we get off to a good start!

Tough for me to get a grasp on college hoops so far given the ever changing schedules and with how busy I have been with my primary sports right now, but had a little time to look at todays game and here is what I am playing:

Maryland TT Ov 74

This line has jumped up to 14. I have some concerns about them covering the big number so I feel better about them continuing to score points. They are averaging 82 points per game, and while St. Peters is probably the best team they will have played so far, they did give up 76 to St. Johns. I just like what I have seen from this Maryland team so far. Losing Stix was huge but I do not think losing Cowan was so bad. I will go into this more over the year, but they are playing much better unselfish team basketball right now. The transfers have fit in and are doing what they need to do inside. They have been shooting well so far and I think it will continue this afternoon. I think this is the game to bet on versus tomorrow. They play at home today and then on the road tomorrow at JMU. Both are add on games. Still smaller/action bets for now.

Thanks gentlemen.

They could have easily had 100 today as they missed 15 free throws.

If they continue to shoot over 50% they are a better team than most thought. They can compete with the best of the Big 10. Should be fun to watch.

Not playing tomorrow's game.

Maryland vs Clemson - Wednesday 5:00
-2, 136

I have not had a ton of time to properly analyze this game, but here is what I know. Clemson is a very tough place to play, maybe not so much with limited fans, but it still is tough. Maryland has not left College Park this year, so I am not expecting them to shoot as well as they have. Clemson plays defense as does Maryland. Clemson is a little undersized which has me leaning to Maryland, but I am not sure I can trust them on the road yet. While Maryland has scored a lot of points lately my gut is telling me this is going to be a tight lower scoring game, so:

Maryland/Clemson Under 137 -123

is how I am playing it. Smaller bet as I am not exactly sure what to expect on the road despite liking what I have seen so far, but Clemson is definitely better than anyone they have played to date. I like the fact that there best player is Sims who Hamilton (from BC) is very familiar with. Clemson guards are not big and one of Maryland's biggest advantages against most teams is their length on the perimeter as no one is under 6'5". This also helps alleviate some of their lack of depth inside. I think it is an important game for the Terps as every game in conference on the road will be at least as tough as this, so I think we will learn a lot about them tomorrow.

Meant to post this early this morning but this day has already gotten away from me so no long write-up today.

Maryland TT Un 70 -115

I think MD can win this game but I also like it to be a lower scoring slugfest. Rutgers plays good defense and Maryland averaged only 61.5 points in their two games last year. Difficult to say how Maryland will come back after the Clemson loss, so I will stick with a total play. Small play.
