The men's basketball team (24-10) is traveling to take on the New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlanders (19-14) in the www.collegeinsider.com Tournament quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Newark, New Jersey.
The Mavericks haven?t played since March 15 when they dismantled the Savannah State Tigers in a 75-59 win at Tiger Arena.
The Highlanders have played two games so far in the CIT posting wins over the Army Black Knight and Boston University Terriers. The Highlanders have a home record of 11-6 at home this season.
UTA has a chance to make history by setting the new program record for wins in a season as they are currently tied for most wins with the 2011-12 team.
?There?ve been some great teams here and to have the opportunity to have the most wins in school history would be a big-time tribute to the guys on this basketball team,? UTA head coach Scott Cross said to www.utamavs.com. ?I?m hopeful that our guys will be ready to play and we can accomplish that on Thursday night.?
The game will air on ESPN3 and The Grease Monkey is hosting a watch party with food and drink specials and prizes available for UTA fans.
If UTA defeats the Highlanders, they will play in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Sunday against Columbia (23-10).
