Bet against him

You'd be 0-48

Not the self proclaimed best ever (maybe in the 5-10 range) but clearly the best in his class the last 20 years.

To go that well, it must have been some really easy opponents for him.

I`m watching teddy atlas and that idiot bob papa(he`s so emotional and hasn`t one iota of objectivity regarding mayweather) on espn and they`re doing everything in their power to denigrate mayweather`s win...poor Bernard Hopkins(who knows more about boxing than teddy atlas and papa if you combined both their low i.q.`s) tried to explain it to them but it fell on deaf ears...their hatred for mayweather trumps all objectivity regarding "boxing" without mayweather`s peripheral issues..........

before the fight, this was considered the fight of the decade and many thought pacquiao had a real shot to beat mayweather.....pacquaio was voted the greatest fighter of the last decade over mayweather...

now he`s washed up and mayweather really isn`t any good and has no place among the all-time greats(top 20...which is utterly ridiculous)....

same shit happened when he fought canelo alvarez...alvarez was a phenom until Floyd easily beat him.....

many think Floyd is a reprehensible dude for many reasons..his excesses...his gangsta persona...his run ins with the law....and that`s true...he`s no role model....hell,i don`t like mayweather`s attitude, lifestyle,or persona...he`s pretty hard to like...

but he is what he is and that`s head and shoulders above any boxer of his generation and he deserves a place among the all-time greats...theres no rule that says he has to be involved in a tough man contest- fight in any of his fights to be considered great....

focus and objectivity is a lost concept .....

and their hatred pales in comparison to my revulsion after listening to Jamie foxx butcher the anthem.(it felt as though the anthem had a seizure).

It wasn't bob papa on espn last night that was joe tesitore

His hatred always was louder than his few points of Floyd being a great manager, tactician; and defensive fighter.

I think he is more pissed and offended that Floyd thinks he's the goat.....when in fact he's probably 5-10 range all time.

Atlas just sounds like a disgruntled poor person who can't stand anyone who has money, fame or success. His bs point about them keeping the true boxing fans out is a joke, should they have sold $20 tix for the poor when the market was 5k? the poor guy would have done if he was able to buy a 20 ticket

you`re right...my bad.....it was tessitore......and I think we agree,they wouldn`t consider Floyd in the top 20.....

again, issues of behavior, lifestyle, lack of willingness to be the "white knight" aside, the guy has the bonafides...ali wasn`t a knockout puncher...later in his career he laid on the ropes for 2:30 out of a 3 minute round and was given nearly every round because he was "ali"....willie pep was a master boxer with little power.....pernell whitaker wasn`t a finisher(Floyd`s k.o. percentage is better)........

if he`d fought like atlas would prefer he fight the chances of him being in a position to be 47-0 and fighting for a 9 figure paycheck at 38 would probably have disappearsd years ago....he`s just not built to be that kind of fighter.....

atlas` point about ticket prices was laughable....

everybody has their own agenda...

Nope not even in the top 20...when you have guys like Archie Moore, Ezzard Charles, SRR, SRL, Ali etc

in truth,it`s near impossible to compare eras(we always over-deify and overrate past stars...ali is the perfect example...it`s human nature)...

if it could be quantified...done fairly and objectively, imo,he should have a legit case to be in the discueeion ..

we agree to disagree...
