I will be heading to Tunica with my wife and friends this weekend, and would like to find some good eats.

Anybody know of a good bar-b-que place or steakhouse in the area?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't say "best ribs in the south", but they are damn good.

A little fact aobut that place. The wait staff actually own their job positions and can will them to a family member once they pass away.

Expect a wait if you are going on the weekend. This is a big tourist place. But this is because they have good food.

Best "dry ribs" in the south. No doubt about it!

other b-b-q:
Topps, showboat, three little pigs, corky's

steaks: Folks Folly---top dollar a-la-carte, but worth it!
top ten in usa

if you have time go to a Redbirds game(AAA). Great for families, but make sure you get some b-b-q nachos:eek:

Re: Rendevouz (Ribs Place in Downtown Memphis)

I was there in mid-Janaury. The ribs, while good, were extremely overpriced and a small serving. Paid 15.95 AT LUNCH, and left hungry. The side dishes are shit (potato salad which tasted like it was made at Safeway) and cold rolls. Even the ice tea sucked (how do you screw up iced tea, for Crissakes???).

Service was slow and the place was a dump.

I'm trying to think of something positive to say about this place, and if you give me a few hours I might be able to think of something. Oh yeah, the parking lot out in front only charged me $5 to park my car for an hour (mind you, this is Memphis).

Hey Rendevouz -- :thefinger

Bluegrass!
I spent many a year eating at Rendevous while in college. When we first started going, it was terrific. All aspects of the place were great; food, service, price, atmosphere, etc..etc... Last time I went was in '94 on my future wife's senior formal. It was like a totally different place; food, service, wait, and final bill all SUCKED! I don't know what happened, but there had to have been a change of ownership or something like that. Never in my life had I seen such a turnaround in a particular restraunt. I gotta agree with Nollan here and say there are better Eat's floating around in Memphis.

If price isn't a deterrent, I'd check out the restraunt in the bottom of the Peabody. I believe it's called "Ducks" or something like that, and it is EXCELLENT!. With a few drinks, it'll set ya back a few Ben Franklins, but it is well worth it!!

I lived in Memphis for 4 years. Never really liked Rendezvous myself. For Ribs would consider Corky's on Poplar Ave. or if you like Dry Ribs maybe Public Eye in Overton Square on Madison (My personal Fav, but I think you either love it or hate it.)

Steaks: Folks Folly is good but really overpriced IMO, consider Butcher Shop (one Right Downtown and one in Cordova.)

Also for a good Burger hard to beat Huey's (Downtown or Madison Ave.)

Sandwiches - Consider Fino's on Madison (I think) or Lenny's on Poplar Ave. (DAMN Good)

Good luck

DICKHEAD615,

You want seafood?

Try Filet-o-Fish.

And if you are really hungry, you can super-size it.:moon:

BOHICA, If you are in Tunica and want some BBQ, go to the BBQ joint in the top of Samstown Casino! I am not sure of the name but damn they have some Killer BBQ. Just an idea if you are caught standing there with your pockets empty and have some idle time! The Restaraunt downstairs has some decent seafood as well!

Good Luck to ya in the Tuny town!
