Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Here is your opportunity to rate a possible new TV series and give Nielsen your thoughts on the current state of TV

Daily 10am-7pm open to kids and adults FREE.

Back by pool and food court area, near CSI experience ($31.50 we passed, the gift shop was available free downstairs for CSI fans wanting $20 ball caps and $29.00 t-shirts)

Took about an hour, no reservations needed, just walk up and ask for next showings. For your efforts, you get some discount food and gift discounts.

We viewed a possible Criminal Minds spin-off show episode and could instantly via a computer give our immediate impressions of possible cast members.....computer survey afterwards.

Kinda cool, chance to speak your mind.

Corned Beef hunt continues....back in the day, I went to Benny Shapiros in Cleveland Ohio, got a mountainous juicy, marbled fat laden sandwich and a ice cold beer for $3-$4. It would slide easily down your throat.

In the new age of healthy food, the Vegas versions on the strip were "Goldbergs Deli" at the NY NY, and "Stage Deli" by sportsbook MGM grand.

Goldbergs was a good sized sandwich on Rye, $10.95 good fat content, but the 22 year old cutting the meat was slicing it AGAINST the grain...sandwich was a mass of crumbled meat and wads of fat.

I complained to owner, replaced it with a semi-dry pastrami sandwich that
I ate half of (I was hungry) bagged leftovers, and fed the remainder to my dogs.

Cut properly, it might be decent...I won't be back though.

A couple weeks later, Stage Deli, at MGM

....back in the late 1980's thru 1990's they were at Caesars Palace in the forum shop area, they lost their lease. It was the absolute best corn beef in town, monstrous portions all the good fat and juices....HUGE pieces of real deal NY cheesecake that fed 3-4 easily. A MUST on my Vegas to do list.

Todays Stage Deli, a very small location, meat so lean and dry, it was hard to gag down without a lot of mustard and beer. Small sandwich, 7.95 (very small) 11.95 bigger portion A small piece of cheesecake $4.95.

I gagged down a few bites, took it back. The original owner was there, made me a fresh sandwich, there was ZERO fat on the brisket.

I gagged down a couple more bites, once again the dogs scored leftovers.

I went to the Carnegie Deli at Mirage I believe, a few years back, sat there 20 minutes, totally ignored by wait staff, never ordered, just walked out.

I am afraid in this age of "healthy eating" old style corned beef may be the victim. It may also be that they are buying pre-made briskets, throwing them in the steam pot and calling it good.

Too bad; another memory of the good old days, I am afraid.

I had the Carnegie Deli corned beef sandwich and it was horrible. Very dry.

3 years ago we stayed at The Mirage for Father-Son weekend as my boy had just turned 21. We ate at the same deli and Jr. agreed to split a sandwhich though he wanted a whole pastrami. Two bites into his pastrami he looked at me and said "This meat has more fat than your belly." I could have killed on the spot but how do you argue with honesty. True story.

We are running out of time here in Utah and we haven't seen all of the sites yet so headed to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam this weekend. I talked the wife into staying in Vegas since it is a "central" point. We drive down Wednesday night and hit the Canyon on Thursday. Hoover Dam is Friday and we will go to the buffet that night with my aunt and uncle who live there. I am sure it will be downtown and that night will be my one and only night to roll dice
