USC is #2 in both BCS polls. If ND beats USC, ND should be moved to #2.

:

If thats your logic then Michigan should stay ahead of ND, for obvious reasons.......cuz ND was a LOSER to michigan.....why do you want to reward a LOSER so much?

Because ND lost to Michigan in September, and since Sept. ND has redeemed themelves IF they beat USC @USC.

MICHIGAN was in the drivers seat to the BCS NC, THEY LOST!

ND LOST to Michigan and now has chance to redeem themselves.

What is more impressive?

ND finishing the year beating USC @USC or Michigan finishing the year LOSING to Ohio St.?

Do we reward ND for winning? ND has won every game since losing to Michigan.

Or do we reward a LOSER a trip to the BCS NC. (Michgian)

Michigan has only beaten 3 BCS teams with a winning record. So what exactly has Michigan done to deserve going to the BCS NC? That is the better question!

ND beating USC @USC is a hell of lot more impressive than anything Michigan has done.

USC is a better team than ND and more accomplished team than ND. So ND beating USC @USC is more impressive than Michigan beating ND @ND. (that is Michigans biggest win of the year) That is how ND redeems themselves! Lucky for ND, they get a golden opportunity!

Scott,

I don't get the logic. A tiebreaker for a playoff spot is based first on head-to-head matchups. Just because ND may "redeem" themselves with a win in SC, they would still have the same record as Michigan.

What if Arkansas beat LSU and Florida by 10 points each and SC barely beat ND and the Bruins. Would Arky get the bid because they have redeemed themselves since the loss to SC in Little Rock in September?

all this means is if ND beats USC.....it'll be between Mich and Ark or Fla with one loss.......ND got pasted by Michigan and needed a miracle against a sorry MIchigan State squad......there is nothing impressive about their resume........and their SOS is pretty even........the next step is head to head........why are you the only person in America struggling to grasp this concept? Maybe you should get out more

Of course, all of this arguing is bullshit because we need a playoff. How about this:

Eight teams and seven games.

Rose Bowl
Fiesta Bowl
Orange Bowl
Sugar Bowl
Outback Bowl
Citrus Bowl

College Super Bowl

winners of: (projections)

SEC (Florida)
PAC-10 (USC)
Big-10 (Ohio State)
Big-12 (Texas)
Big East (Louisville)
ACC (I have no idea)
2 at large teams (Notre Dame and Michigan)

How about this for some actual interest after the first of the year.

Outback Bowl (Jan1)

1 Ohio State vs. 8 Notre Dame

Citrus Bowl (Jan 1)

7 Michigan vs. 2 USC

Sugar Bowl (Jan 1)

3 Florida vs. 6 I have no idea

Orange Bowl (Jan 2)

5 Texas vs. 4 Louisville

Rose Bowl (Jan 8)

1/8 vs 4/5

Fiesta Bowl (Jan 9)

2/7 vs 3/6

NCAA Super Bowl

There you go.

This makes conference championships more important. NO conference championship games unless there are ties without head-to-head matchups. And believe it or not, they'd be done the week that professors hand out syllabi for the Spring Semester.

How freaking difficult is this. I'd rather have an argument on why Boise State didn't get in instead of a one loss WVU or Rutgers than who is playing in the national championship.

Problem is the conferences that have too many teams so everyone doesnt play each other. And I really cant see how you make such a team play (say Wiscy had beaten Michigan) an extra game.

Obviously still gonna have problems with seeding and who the at larges are....a better plan but no matter what there is gonna be a flawed system ...

In a drastic turn from the ordinary (I always try to be fair) I agree with Scotty on his argument.......

What can POSSIBLY happen in a rematch? Michigan played their best game. Why do I say they played their best game when they gave up 42 points you ask? Because Ohio State physically CANNOT be stopped by the Michigan defense. It is slow. Ohio State has recruited a different kind of player since Tressel took over. Michigan is still settling for second best when it comes to speed and athleticism. Mike Hart is AMAZING. Mario is GREAT. Henne will never be anything special. He is Trent Dilfer at best. Both O and D lines for Michigan are solid, but they lack speed and depth at the secondary positions. When Ohio State trots 5 accomplished receivers out there and has a QB that can move the pocket from a rush, forget about it. No chance Michigan DB's stick with the receivers. Mix in a couple of big time running backs and Michigan will give up high 30's in this game everytime. Bank it.

Now, Scotty may put a spin on it and say that USC DESERVES to go over these other teams. No, I wouldnt go that far. USC lost their obligation to be in the big game when they lost to the Beavers. Are they the team with the best shot to knock off the Buckeyes....YES. Why?? Because they have the exact things that Ohio State has. SPEED and a great coach. Two things that Michigan doesnt have.

USC is young. Very young, and they may luck out and get into this game in a year where most teams in the nation are mediocre. In a regular year, USC is not experienced enough to be in this spot. However, they may luck out. The combination of blue chip talent and youth makes USC dangerous because they can beat anyone on any given day, however, they are also very prone to mistakes and can lose on any given day to a team like Oregon State.

Thats my take on this rematch crap......

Henne will be the better pro......Smith will be aka Shaun King........just kidding, I wish all the best to Smith....one of the few Buckeyes I like, the kid has a good head on his shoulders and I like that he puts the team first, too many players its all about them

I don't care who plays OSU as long as it's not Mich again. I didn't think the game was that great.

Of all the games possible I guess I would like to see USC in it with them. I hate both teams but I can see it being a good game, mainly because of how the dogs have been in big games the last few years.

I am being serious-

If OSU was the beneficiary of 3 turnovers, and not Michigan, this game could have been 45-17. Easily.
