Just curious what opinions are on Michelle Wie and all the hype surrounding her missing the cut by 2 last weekend, and beating 48(?) of the men.

Is she good enough to play on the PGA Tour?

If so, should she be allowed to play with the men?

Should she have to go to "Q" school, knowing some men on the PGA Tour don't?

Thoughts?

:)

I hate her!!! Put on the LPGa with all the other girls. I don't care if she beats 48 other guys, she shouldn't be out there. These poor guys are trying to not only make the cut, they have to try and beat a 14 yr old girl or be humiliated for the rest of their lives. Why don't you let some of these 48 guys go out and play on the LPGA. See how they like it. Stupid Bitch, play on your own tour.

I think the PGA Tour is like the open division for golf. I feel the same way about any sport. If you are good enough to compete, then I think you should have the opportunity to play in the league where it can be most profitable (only move up in ranks). Sponsors are the reason that anyone on the PGA tour is making money, so if there is a rule that they can give exemptions then it should be their choice as to who they give it to.

Bottom line is that the girl can flat-out play the game! Her swing is flawless, and when she is in her upper teens I believe that she will win a PGA tour event. I was thoroughly impressed.

On another note, I am completely for letting the members of Augusta not allow women if that is what their membership decides. These two topics get mixed in together too often, and they have nothing to do with each other.

that tony kornheiser called it the greatest achievement in sports history.........???????????....

maybe if she played regularly on the men`s tour and consistently had success....

not one tournament...a ridiculous overstatement ..more over-zealous media political correctness...

Agreed. Maybe if she won the Masters - but not missing the cut at an early season tourny. She's a very good player - but come on Tony.

As much as you want to slam people like Kornheiser for statements like that, remember that that is what he is paid to do. I listen to Tony a lot, and read his columns in the post. Typically, he's got a lot of great insight, but he, like most good columnists, stir the pot once in awhile.

My personal opinion on Wie is a little mixed. I give all the credit in the world for having the game she's got at 14  but I'm not willing to hand her anything yet. She played her home course and shot an unreal score, but let's see her go out and play a new course every week, and average -4 PER ROUND!, which is basically what you have to do to win on the mens tour.

She may not even want to play on the men's tour.... I have no idea. If she does, and she goes through Q-school and qualifies, then let her. I have no problem with that, and agree with whoever said the PGA Tour is for the best players in the world, not just the been MALE players. I personally don't think she'll qualify, but again, she's 14 and probably has a lot of room for improvement as she get's older.

BOYS MENS SPORTS ARE FOR MEN I THINK HAVING HER PLAYING MAKES THE MEN LOOK LIKE A BUNCH OF BROADS.THE ONLY WAY TO GET MICCHELLE OFF THE TOUR IS TO USE THE BEANTOWNJIM STRATERGY NOW LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY AND LEARN SOMETHING.IF SHE WANTS TO BE OUT THERE WITH MEN THEN SHE SHOULDNT MAKE THEM FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE BY TRYING EXTRA HARD TO BE NICE TO HER BECAUSE THE MEDIA IS WATCHING.SO FELLAS THIS IS HOW WE GET RID OF HER AND ANY OTHER WOMEN WHO WANTS TO F-CK UP OUR ENJOYMENT OF WEEKEND GOLF.NEXT TIME MICHELLE OR ANNIKA ARE PLAYING WE HAVE TO GET THE GUY WITH THE BIGGEST DICK ON TOUR MAYBE TIGER OR JIM DENT TO PLAY WITH ONE OF THESE YOUNG LADIES AS SOON AS THEY TEE OFF ONE OF THEM SAYS HEY GIRLS ILL BE RIGHT BACK I HAVE TO GO TAKE A PISS THEN WHEN THEY ARE HIDING BEHIND THE TREES THE WHIP OUT THERE MAGIC JOHNSON SO THE GIRLS CAN SEE IT MAYBE A WAGGLE OR TWO JUST TO MAKE SURE THE WOMEN SEE IT.ONCE THE WOMEN SEE WHAT MEN DO EVERY WEEK THEN MAYBE THEY WILL GO RUNNING BACK TO THE LESBIANS ON THERE OWN TOUR.SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE AND I THINK THE PENIS TRICK WILL WORK.HOW COULD ANNIKA CONCENTRATE ON HER GOLF IF TIGER WOODS IS PULLING OUT HIS PRICK ON EVERY HOLE,BOYS WE HAVE TO PUT A SCARE INTO THESE BROADS ISNT THERE ANY MORE SACRED GROUNDS FOR THE MEN ON THE WEEKENDS ANYMORE:moon: I WOULD LOVE TO PLAY ON THE LPGA I KNOW I COULD GET INTO THESE WOMENS HEADS BY JUST BEING A WEEKEND HACK AND TELLING DIRTY JOKES AND TELLING THEM THEY HAVE BIG BOOBS LIKE BEN WRIGHT DID IT KILLS THERE GAMES IF YOU ARE OBNOXIOUS ON THE COURSE. THIS IS A MENS GAME PLAYED BY MEN LET THEM GO COMPETE IN MENS FIGURE SKATING IF THEY WANT TO COMPETE AGAINST OTHER FEMALE ATHLETES:iagree:

I WILL NEVER FORGET THE GREAT CASCADE ROBBERY OF 2003 THE DAY LENNY AND CASCADE SPORTSBOOK STOLE 660 DOLLARS FROM ME THEN CALLED ME A SUCKER:thefinger

On the course!
She is something! 14 and pounds it 300 yards. Has soft hands around the green. Plays the game better than most people ever will, and will only get better.

You can say all you want about it being an early season tourny so we shouldn't take mutch stock in it, but this kid was NEVER in that situation before, and busted some serious ass! The guys she beat have been doing this for a while.

Plus........I don't think she's a dyke, so why would she want to play on the LPGA?

Is it coincidence all the guys speaking out against her like Scott Hoch were getting outdriven by 30 yards by her?

I'm all for her playing, I dont mind it, I watched every minute and thought she was great. But you know, she has to QUALIFY at some point. Taking exemptions is great, but if you want to really show me something, go out on a Monday and win the qualifier. You obviously have game. Or go to the Pub Links and win it in July, thereby guaranteeing yourself an EARNED teetime at Augusta in 2005. That would shut a lot of people up.

ace -- I think those things are coming later. She still needs to concentrate on getting a base education as her #1 priority. I think once she completes high school, we will probably see her trying to actually make the Tour. She mentioned in an interview Saturday that she would like to attend Stanford.

I think if shes good enough to play on PGA she's entitled to it and there may be a day she is--but I don't think that day is now.

While you read all the hype from these so called sports analyst what they fail to tell you after getting grilled on the Canadian and Nationwide tour several months ago how she achieved this close call to making cut.
Final day she had one of those rounds platers dream of --13 one putt greens including 2 over 50 feet for birdies on par 3's.
Now I am here to tell you she plays well enough to get job done on any tour with a 23 total putt round. They are very rare--however 2 others ocurred on same day believe it or not. Lickliter and Steve Allan also had 23 putts each--only difference was outcome--they both shot 62. Most these rounds occur with player "in zone" that day hitting irons very close to pin all day long. Not so with Wie as she hit few shots close to pin--but with same result. One putt.
The thing that impressed me most about her play was her composure when she got in trouble. Made some of her best shots under fire. I think possibly adding to her calmness was fact they paired her with local coach there she refers to as "uncle".--oh thats another thing that was swept under the rug.;)

"the bunker"
clarification

clarification

i like kornheiser.....if you read the baltimore papers, you`d know that we`d kill to have a real sportswriter in this town....as it stands we have laura vescey...nuff said...

but, kornheiser also said that american idol is the best show on t.v...that`s enough to ruin his credibility....:D

all kidding aside,i think that was an overstatement.....the young lady, from what i`ve read, had played that course many, many times and thats a huge advantage...i do understand that she may play more pga events...if she hold her own, then she`s a true phenom...

still, tremendous kudos to her....looks like she could be a great one....but,the greatest achievement in sports?......nahhhh...

if she ran for 1,000 yards or had 20 triple doubles, then we talk about great achievements... ;)
